Could anyone tell me if this is worth doing?, we are staying off site and will be flying home on the 14th June, just thought this would be a great way of enjoying our last day at WDW!, If we do this how early do we need to be at MCO before our flight home

We always use it and we also stay offsite at our villa.
You can drop off your main suitcases (you can also get rid of any extra cases at the airport afterwards) which means you do not have the temptation for theives with you car filled with cases
Also, you can get a better choice of seats if you are travelling in Econ.

After dropping off your cases you can then spend the day at WDW

I think you have to be at the airport around 2 hours before your flight leaves, but Security can be pretty long winded to get through if they have an alert on. Also check when you have to drop off your hire car and not get stung with an extra days hire

We always use it, even if we don't go to a park that day its nice to not have to be stuck with the cases. :goodvibes

I would only do it if short line. First time we did it we were there just after opening and took us over 1 hour. Got to airport and there was no line at checkin so wasted an hour.
Second time this Xmas we went mid morning and no line it took 10 mins. Got to airport and the line was very long.
I would check in online if at all possible, either by your laptop, business centre in hotel or ask reception if they will do it. That way you should not have to stand in line at airport.
If you check in at Downtown Disney you have to be at gate with 60 mins to departure so I would get there 2 hours before to drop car off, long walk and security.

Would recommend this and if flying with virgin it's free check in.
We have used this every time and gives you the rest of the day to enjoy.:cool1:

Only free with Virgin holidays/flydrives, Not with Virgin flight only, I think there is still a $5pp charge unless anyone knows different.:thumbsup2

We used it for the first time last August, and would thoroughly recommend it:thumbsup2 we spent the rest of the day around downtown disney and also The Loop, before heading off to the airport.

$5 for economy and PE passengers NOT tracelling with Virgin holidays (or taking fly/drive with them)

UC pax and Flying Club Gold Card holders also do not have to pay

Just a note for any non-drivers:

We went to get on the DTD bus from our hotel to go to Virgin's DTD early check-in, and we weren't allowed on the Disney buses with our cases so we had to take a taxi.

Just a little heads up so you don't wait for the bus like we did :lmao:

How do non drivers get to the airport? Can you take ME from the hotels or a Virgin bus from DTD? Remember reading it somewhere but can't remember where:confused3

We are non drivers for the trip and had assumed we would take a cab but would be interested to learn of other options

we always use it, our flight home on the 11th February had only 78 in ecomony so had row of seats to ourselves. We checked in and went off to Universal studios and watched a movie there also. That is just one of the reasons we always fly Virgin for this facility. We do still leave 2/3hrs before departure to get to airport, to drop car off etc, chill and have something to eat and to get through security:surfweb:

We were non-drivers last October. We checked-in online the day before, left our luggage at hotel reception, enjoyed our last day, came back to the hotel where we got changed and then took a cab to the airport. Well, I say 'cab' but it was pre-booked with FLTours....who I can thoroughly recommend. It was easy.

Anything that enables you to get rid of your suitcases early has to be worth doing, we always use the DTD, being PE travellers also gives you the extra advantage of having your own seperate queue.

How many hours before your departure time did you leave to get to the airport and was it enough time?

Many thanks for all your replies, We are definately going to do this and take advantage of enjoying our last day without our luggage :yay: , we'll probably end up at Animal Kingdom as we usually do :cheer2:

We always check our bags in the morning and go straight to Typhoon lagoon for a few relaxing hours, followed by a visit to planet hollywood (USING THE VIRGIN DISCOUNT VOUCHER- IF THEY STILL GIVE THE LUNCH VOUCHERS.)

It is a real nice way to finish the vacation.:) :)
