Virgin Check in at MCO

Hi

As we are DIYing it at Xmas, I have booked Continental Airlines flights (code sharing with Virgin). I believe that Downtown Check in is only for people who have booked a Virgin Holiday??

Does anyone know what time the Virgin Check in desks at MCO open - I was hoping to get rid of our bags early in the day, rather than suffer the looooooong queue at the 'normal' check in time.

DownTown Disney check in is a Virgin Atlantic perk - not Virgin Holidays one (we've booked thru other companies and still used it) - but I don't know about codeshares sorry

As far as I know anyone can use it but it's only free if you are a Virgin Holidays customer. I think we paid $5 each last year - well worth it!

We booked the Virgin Atlantic codeshare flight through Contintal Airlines for our trip in May and were able to use the check-in facility at Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney check-in

All passengers (providing they are holding a confirmed seat) may use this Downtown Disney check-in there will be a charge of USD$5.00 per person (excluding infants) payable at the check in desk. This includes Continental Codeshare passengers.

This service will be complimentary to the following groups of passengers:

*Upper Class Passengers
*flying club gold card holders

Please note: This service is NOT complimentary to passengers traveling in Club Orlando

* The location is Downtown Disney near the Cirque De Soleil at Pleasure Island. Pleasure Island is also home of the Virgin Megastore and Planet Hollywood.
* The check-in is open air and therefore subject to weather conditions. All passengers should be advised of this when they call.
* The check-in is open from 0800 - 1300 every day. Boarding passes will be given to the passengers.
* This is a check-in facility only and therefore, no adjustments can be made to existing tickets i.e. upgrades.
* Tickets on departure (TODs) and reissues of tickets MUST be handled at the Airport Ticket Desk.
* All special needs passengers and standby staff will need to use the airport check-in.
* When checking in, the passenger must have all their baggage with them, including hand (cabin) bags (to be weighed). As space is limited, hand baggage cannot be checked in and reclaimed at the airport. The passenger must keep all cabin baggage with them.
* All passengers must be present at check-in.
* All passengers using this service still need to arrive at the airport 2hrs before their scheduled departure time.
* Payment for excess baggage, date of travel change fees and upgrade charges can also be taken at this location.
* Any of the above charges can only be taken in the form of USD cash (small denominations are preferred) or credit cards only.

DTD check - in will certainly serve the hassle - well worth the $5 per person.

Last time we used it, I thought the opening time was later (still my memory is not as good as it was!!). If we can get there 'early' we can make the most of the rest of the day --- Great!!

Although DTD check in is easy to spot when it's open - a word of warning, when it's closed it just looks like a car port on the side of Cirque Du Soleil and has no Virgin signage at all.

As DH is a bit of a planner we went on a 'rekkie' the night before only to end up having a domestic over its location. After driving roung the car park a couple of times DH was adamant that it must be located at the Virgin Megastore (logical I suppose) I thought it was the car port and guess who was right!! ME!!!!

We had exactly the same scenario!!!!!!!!!! look for 3 large vans outside the canopy of circqu du soleil and a counter. Opens 8am to 1pm daily. All passengers need to be at the desk with passports and luggage.
