Hi, does anyone know how the virgin car hire works if you only use it for a few days?

If you hire it midway through the holiday for say 3 days - is it 3 x 24 hour periods or for example if you collect it Sat at 4pm, do you just get Sat, Sun and Mon and have to return it Mon pm?? Or do you get to keep it until 3.59pm on Tues?

Hope this question makes sense!!:lmao:

If you mean the "free" car they provide in packages/fly drives then they onclude it for 7 days from when you arrive at MCO. Any extra days are charged for and you also need to pay for insurance for the whole period.

If you are only looking to use a car for a few days, the best option is to decline to take any insurance for the car with Virgin (just get the "free" car for 7 days) and then not collect it at the airport. This is not a problem - loads of people do it - you will only get a problem if you tell Virgin at the outset that you don't want the car as they will make a charge for this! Then check out the many car hire companies on the internet for the best deal for the few days you need a car - do a search on here and you will find recommendations for loads of companies.

If you are staying onsite, you can collect from the Dolphin or Disney Car Centre or a couple of the hotels near DTD. If you are offsite, there are loads of other places you can collect from.

thanks Sue!!:lovestruc I have already booked the car for collection from the Dolphin with Virgin - I see that I have paid for 3 days (which is what I requested) and was just wondering whether that will mean 3 days as in sat, sun, mon (regardless of what time I collect it) or if it means I will get it for 3 24 hour periods, in which case this could cover part of Tuesday too??

Any idea??

I dont think you can just havethe car for a few days asit would be inclued for the duration of your hoiday.
Point to note that the cost of the insurance with Virgin is often as expensive as a fully inclusive rental package with omeone like Dollar and so you can usually get a better deal by booking something external to the Virgin included option.(see other Car Hire threads for recommendations such as USRentacar.com and Netflights.com).

If you only want a few days then surely a seperate booking would be a lot more cost effective?

Hi:)- yes you can get it for a few days, I am really just querying how they calculate a 'days' car hire?

(I know I could ring Virgin and check but I don't get a lot of joy when I ring them with questions usually!!:lmao:)

Many thanks:lovestruc

Amy, its calculated from when you pick up the car in 24 hour periods, so will be due to be returned on the Tuesday.
