Virgin booking questions

Hi all, I had a question now that i've booked my Dis holiday for this September.

First of all, how do I reserve a certain room or at least a room in a certain area for my hotel. I'm staying in Port Orleans Riverside and really wanted a room in the Alligator Bayou section. However, you can't make these requests when booking through Virgin, you have to request them through Disney. But I want to know how this works, I've got my ******/S09 Virgin booking reference number so do I just use this number to reserve stuff or do I need another number?

Also, what is the number or website i need to do this and when should I think about doing it, I leave September 11th.

As far as I am aware you can't now. When you booked the holiday with Virgin, at the time of booking, they could have noted it with a special request. This is done purely on the basis, that it is a request and not a guarantee.

I think if you tried to do this now, then you may have to pay an amendment fee.

You could try faxing Disney nearer the time, but I don't think they honour these any more. I'm sure I read this on tourguide Mike. It's worth a shot though.

As far as I am aware, anything you do is only a request, whether through Virgin or Disney.

When I stayed at the POR in 2006 I followed the advice given to me through here and contacted the Hotel direct (I can't remember if it was e mail or fax) about 5 days before arriving and asked for a specific building - and we did get it.

I think this is the only way but it did work for us

thanks for the help. when i booked online there was no option to make a room request, only non-smoking e.t.c. so i was hoping i could try and request a room after booking.

You can request a room, but it is only a request. You need to call the resort about 5 days before you arrive (that is when the bookings are all finalised at Disney and transfered to the hotel's system). We are staying at POR in 2 weeks so will be calling next week to do this.
