Does anyone know if Virgin allow Suit Bags to be carried on??

Am wanting to know if we can carry my dfs wedding suit on board if its folded up in a suit bag rather than having to pack it in the hold :confused3

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :goodvibes

Hi hun,

I know Sarah (orangetiggs) had problems with Virgin and her dress. If I remember correctly she asked at check-in when she went for her planning session and they said it was down to security. Security said no problem. She took her dress when they flew out for the wedding and check-in told her it had to be in a checked-baggage sized carry on.

I may have got that wrong but I seem to remember she had problems.

I'm taking mine in a carry-one case to be sure.

Are you getting Carolyn Allens (or someone else) to come and steam your dress? If so, they will do a suit too as we asked about it.

my dress went on as a carry on but it was in a carry on sized bag. Our suits were all in our cases in the suit bags and none of them had any problems, on the way bag the best men packed them all (7 of them) in a holdall and then went in the hold.

My dress was squeezed into a bag and then didnt need steaming as it was lace and tulle so didnt crease. the suits were just ironed by the boys using the irons in the rooms at disney

I was told the exact thing about my dress ( an Ian Stuart creation), that due to the fabrics used it would not need to be steamed. That if i hung it in the bathroom that any creases would easily drop out. I ve brought a case thats just a tiny bit bigger than the online handbaggage measurements so getting the dress on the plane with me wont be a problem:thumbsup2 . I know im gonna have a mare getting the dress in the case as the skirt part is pretty big with lots of layers of netting, fabric & lace. I had my first fitting on tues & the ladies in the bridal shop helped to show me ways that should make it easier to get my dress inside the case so fingers crossed this ll work.
Maybe we should just pack the suit bag then, im just worried that it ll get very creased up. If we could carry this onboard it would be great but im not holding out much hope:rolleyes:

i folded dh suit in two in the bag and then straight into the case, the ironed the shirt and trousers but that was it, we hung the suit and my dress untill the day

All was fine

My dress shopped packed my dress and I thought there was no way it was getting in there but when they did it, it looked so hard but I had no problems on the way back getting it back in the same case
