Has anyone had experience of the Virgin Special Assistance dept. lately? We are flying out to Orlando with Virgin this summer and I am getting worried as to whether they will provide all that they promised! Have pre-booked seats 63 A &C outbound and 64 A&C on the return trip - has anyone travelled in these seats and what are they like? I have to wear a brace on my left leg to prevent me from bending my knee at all, therefore when I sit down it sticks out in front of me! Virgin assure me that these seats are to the rear of the plane where the seating configuration is 2-3-2, so there will be a gap at the left hand side where (hopefully) my leg will fit. They did offer to take out the seat in front, but only if I paid for it! As it is painful enough normally, you can imagine I want to make the best of the 9 hour flight!

Haven't had those seats which you mention but have always found Special Needs Department very helpful. I have arthritis and asthma - my husband and DS have asthma too. We stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in WDW as it has balconies and the air conditioning irritates my son's chest. At least with a balcony we can escape the airconditioning. We always request a high floor to get away from traffic fumes. This will be the fourth year we have used the assistance from special needs - so far they have always been great.

I have flown with virgin many times with work, and with my disabled son and husband they have always honoured what they have said they would do, I do always phone a couple of weeks before my flight to confirm with the special needs dept.

We travelled with Virgin in Nov.
We contacted Special Assistance when we booked and again 3 weeks out.
DH has MS and can't walk more than 20yds plus Muscle Spasms in his legs would make sitting in an ordinary seat impossible!! We were given Bulkhead seats there & back. The Assistance at Gatwick is wonderful, but at Orlando is absolute rubbish. They need to look at this I think!!!

Special Assistance were always helpful when we phoned. The only reason we might not have got Bulkhead seats would have been if there had been loads of babies in Skycots. They have priority.

Thanks for your replies. Just get so worried about a disastrous journey! Think it als depends on the cabin staff - the one we had coming back last year with United was awful - she was quite happy for me to fly all the way home with my leg propped up on the bulkhead at a 45-degree angle!
