Can anyone help with this one? Checked on Seat Guru and not sure what the yellow/green code is for 'good seat for some' ?? My DH is 6 ft 5 and ALWAYS has an uncomfortable trip out and back. Any tips form fellow giants? We are a group of 3 which includes 1 child so cant sit in emergency exit rows and sadly cant justify the cost of upgrade to premuim economy.:grouphug:

PS we planning on flying from Manchester in March 09 if that makes a difference to airplane options

My husband is 6 2 and is always uncomfortable too, so I cannot imagine how bad it must be for your husband.

To be honest as you have to have 3 seats I would go for seats not too far at the back (plane narrows and get off plane later). Go for seats on side with 3 and then you will be able to raise arms of airline seats so your husband can maybe sit on an angle to get more comfortable. Aisle seat always has box under leg room which restricts leg room so maybe he should sit at window seat (more elbow space).

We do not like emergency seats as you cannot raise arms and seats seem much narrower than usual seats. Not good for people with excess baggage on body if you know what I mean.

Bulkhead seats are extra legroom but are narrower as the tv is in the arm rest - you would have to get to check in on opening (pre 6am) to stand a chance of these seats as they are reserved for babies with sky cots and the disabled - if you are going out of season you may stand a chance, otherwise it's unlikely. Screaming babies are a distinct possibiliy as well.
It's a shame there are 3 of you and not 2 or 4, from row 61 back the seats are in twos and there is a lot of extra room beside the window seat.
There are 4 of us going next week and I've chosen these seats. You could sit with one of you with a child and the other behind/in front - it depends how you feel about sitting beside a stranger for 8+ hours. If you go for the row behind the last row of 3 (61?) there is lots of room to stretch legs out. Get them pre requested as soon as you are able by going into your booking on the VA site - you need your holiday reference or your flight locator code.

Thanks for the tips. We are intending to fly 10 days before the Easter school holidays start so might not be too full !! I had heard that the pairs at teh rear had more room but they are close to loos - still you cant have everything and I think we would gladly sacrifice loo queues in favour of more leg room. Last time we flew with BA and because our seat back entertainment was broken! they moved us at the last minute to seperate seats at the back - DH one side of the aisle and me and DS nearest window seats - with a very patient passenger next to window. Thankfully DS although only 5yrs, was good as gold so not too much hassle for the stranger beside us.
