Virgin Atlantic reward flights

Is anyone els having problems with the VA website ? I'm just checking out availability for reward flights from London to Orlando at the end of the year and I keep getting the message that the route has no reward seats available on ANY month between now and December

Have you tried selecting London Gatwick from the drop downdown list instead of LON (all London airports). I found that made a big difference.

I had that problem when I was searching in November, couldn't opt for all London airports, had to choose Heathrow or Gatwick depending on route I wanted.
Ended up getting Upper Class reward seats in October no problem

I realise that I was just checking the corresponding 2016 dates for the dates I want in 2017.

That being said some reward flight did show up today, although still not on the 2nd Sat in December so we may have to change our final choice of date but at least I feel a Lille more confident that I'll be able to get some reward flight this time next year

Sorry to hijack this thread but I was wondering how hard it would be to get a reward flight during the school holidays in August. We're thinking of going in a couple of years time to give us a chance to save enough miles but if reward flights are difficult to get in August then we will have to try and come up with an alternative plan. Has anyone managed to book a reward flight in August before ?

I've managed to get them many times in the summer school holidays, normally flying out during the last week in July and returning mid August. PE and economy are the easiest to get although on occasion I have manged to get UC seats too. I make sure to book as soon as the return flight becomes available. Where will you be flying from? We fly from Manchester who now have a direct flight to Atlanta which has far more availability. We've managed to get UC reward seats for Christmas and have booked Delta flights for the transfer to Orlando. Good luck!

Reward flights are limited and you need to be prepared when you see them and you need to be flexible on dates.

We have got them in December before but not summer however our dates are usually fixed.

So true what Elise said......I've got more flexibility in the summer and can usually play around with dates which has made a difference to availability. I've generally found that there are more flights during the last week in July and then towards the end of the six weeks.
