Looks like they have pulled the plug on this route. My October flights have been changed to Manchester and the Glasgow route no longer seems to be operating. Not good. VA changed the dates as well which is totally unsuitable.

Can you get your money back? Or are you locked into vouchers or suchlike from previous rescheduling?

Yes, they can do a full refund if no suitable alternatives. Not sure if I'll take a Manchester switch or just call it quits for this year. I suspect the Glasgow route may be gone and never to return. ☹️

It maybe they are pulling back on all but the most profitable routes and airports so they can cut costs until they can start ramping up flights again. If the vaccine program continues to keep covid numbers here low I think the US and UK will likely be looking to make some kind of travel corridor deal between them. But with the financial hit the world is taking from the pandemic it maybe sometime until there are enough travellers for airlines to start making money and expanding again.

So much in the air, but hopefully things will start to look better soon.

The Glasgow route was only really the summer/ school holidays and the Scottish government have been giving very negative views on foreign travel this year, plus no start date still for entry to USA, so I suppose it made sense to cut their losses and concentrate on Man/ Heathrow this year.

Hopefully they will be back next year

Hi,

The BBC has commented that the Scottish Govt will announce a traffic light system tomorrow ( similar to England) and for some countries there will be no need for hotel or home quarantine. As England has not put the US on the green list I doubt scotland will do so tomorrow. But it is a start.

(yes the link says norther ireland but it does link to Scotland-honest !:P

yeah, we are in the same situation for our July flights, they've cancelled glasgow and we've taken the Manchester alternative. Just need to wait and see if it actually goes...

I'm sure the Glasgow to MCO route will be back, there must be a big market for Orlando from Scotland. But airlines have been cancelling loads of routes this summer, for instance BA seems to have pulled out of Gatwick completely this year & is operating its holiday flights to Spain etc from Heathrow. A couple of years ago that was unthinkable & can't be sustainable but the airlines are temporarily concentrating flights at a reduced number of airports as a cost saving measure. Once the demand is there the old routes will come back. Maybe 2022 but certainly by 2023.

I don't know if the slot allocation system is still paused but if not that will be a big factor. Losing a Heathrow slot would be difficult to put it mildly ... Gatwick and Glasgow slots can probably be easily recovered.
