Just looking at VA website and noticed they have a sale on up to June 2015. They have some great prices for Orlando if your dates fit. About £830 PE and around £500 economy. Hope this helps someone. No good for me, I'm still waiting for August 2015 flights. Getting impatient!

That's insane! Cannot believe they can charge those sorts of prices, and yet people will still pay them!

I know. My one-stop flight was almost a third of that price. It adds 9 hours total travel time (of course some of that is saved by clearing immigration first etc.) but that's a saving of £250 PER HOUR between the two of us.

But, like you said, someone's paying it.

I guess if they're flying with a plane only a third full, they're still making as much money as the airline I'm using

BTW if you take off 1 hour of that extra time for immigration and another 2 hours because we fly from a more convenient UK airport, we are saving over £360 per hour of added travel time over VA prices. (Except, of course, we're not "saving" it because we would never ever be going at a cost of £3,434 for two seats in economy!!)

Don't forget to join the Flying Club! Got my first free flights this year (£225 for taxes grrr, but, for a return flight to Orlando!) And going to have enough May next year for free flights for DD and I, plus hoping to buy miles for DD's BF if we can't get a decent sale price, planning to go mid September so fingers crossed. We're hoping they can both get enough time off to do both Disneys in the US £250 for flights outbound to LA and returning from Orlando. I wonder how many people book with VH not realising their flights count towards Flying Club points, I did three holidays with VH before someone pointed this out to me, I was a frequent Virgin member, but, FC is more than worth doing, I even put my Tesco Clubcard points towards FC miles.

We're looking at going june next yr for my 30th but I can't book flights until the end of the month due to going to china for 12 days on Tuesday!
And so I have all my hotels there to pay.

We also have enough miles now for flights and hope we can get those if we miss this sale.

Can you combine each others miles? I mean my DB and Mine. I know this sounds bizarre but I have been flying with VA for 10-12 years and only have around 35000 miles . I always claim them but do use the 2000 each for m+m if there is a bigger saving. Also can I add my daughters miles now she is 12 and having to pay adult fare? 12 and being an adult. Another rip off from VA.
I just wonder how people get so many miles to spend on a free flight.

They told me they have to use equal miles from each if you combine BUT they then explained how it d work for us in that you'd only combine on certain flights for certain people. The summary of it is you should be fine to combine i would have thought but they ll need to play around with it for you

Re the miles accumation. Most from flights iver last 5 years, a virgin credit card, one virgin holiday, using the spending section on the flying club( eg 9 miles for every pound spent), referrals to credit cards.

It's not just VA. Thomsons charge the same for all passengers so my 2yo was quoted the same price as an adult.

If your using M+M fares then you won't be earning miles for the flights. We have used these fares in the past and built up our miles using the VA credit card, and by using reward surveys etc.

However this year we found our flights cheaper through Orbitz (even cheaper than the m+m fares) and so we will earn 8672Miles per person.

Re 2yo i believe its standard for any airline to charge a full fare given they take a full seat

VA charge child fare for children 11 and under. VA used to be 17 and under but changed.

some airlines go with :
up to 2yo, travelling in lap or skycot : 10% of fare
2 - 14 : 90% of fare
15+ : 100% of fare

some airlines don't discriminate between child and adult and have the same fare no matter the age.

VS had always been 12 and over for adults fares.

VH used allow child prices on some holidays up to 18.

TBH - I am surprised there are any child fares at all. They take up the same seat and have the same baggage allowance.

On our JetBlue flights we all paid the same fare - no reduction for DD as she is a child.

though looking at trying to rebook everything separately - I'm not sure i can get it cheaper, though i can probably get it within a few 100 quid BUT have premium rather than economy flights - nice on the way home, not such a big deal on the way out. But its also on the flight that arrives at 3:25 so would be possible to get an evening in a park - which is unlikely with the one that arrives at 5:30 we are currently on - as we'll be arriving at the hotel at say 7:30?
yep we could make it to a park around 9pm but we'll be dead by then.
