hello,
So I have my flights booked for LAX to MCO on 8/18 and a return trip on 8/27. I read a post a while back, mine in fact, that someone mentioned upgrading when i get to the airport to 1st class or even main cabin Select.

Has ANYONE done this? Not your cousins brothers uncles on your mothers side, but you yourself.

The rep i talked to on the online chat service said there is no discount for doing so now,which 1st class is an additional 399 and Select is 179 to upgrade, or when i get there or when im in the plane. I cant see that being right and Ive been told differently.

Anyone know?

I was asked if I wanted an upgrade when we checked in. "Sure" I replied . . . then I was told the price. I do not remember exactly, but it was about what you quote. The "sure" changed to "nonprofit." Still, a much better experience than any other domestic coach out there!

We successfully upgraded for the upgrade charge when we returned from Orlando. The price to be paid is based on the distance of the flight. It is a set amount and is substantially less then buying 1st class from the outset. The gamble is that it may not be available at all, but it was a good deal from my perspective.

I am flying Virgin America in a couple of weeks, EWR to LAX. Coming home, I have a 2 hour layover in San Francisco (LONG story why I am not on one of the non-stop flights, GRR!)

Has anyone paid to go to one of their lounges? I was thinking of doing this in San Francisco.
