Virgin America Airlines

The biggest con is that you won't want to fly on any other airline after you've flown with them. Seriously.

Right now they have a flight on our travel day for a total of $42 less (for the three of us) than what we've already paid for Southwest...and we're considering buying the new VA ticket, and just using the SW credit later.

Despite the other con, paying for even the FIRST checked bag, which means we'd end up with $2 after paying for the bags. Oh, no, just checked, they changed it since last year...we'd actually lose money in the process, b/c the bags are $25 each.

Gorgeous planes, awesome in-flight entertainment system (which works, unlike my screen on my one Jet Blue flight), comfy seats, and "mood" lighting in the cabin (glowy lights that go from reddish pink to blue to purpley) that I do strongly believe tames the savage beast. Seriously, I was onboard when the airport was shut down and security had to search the plane twice, and this was AFTER 1.5 hours delay b/c of weather at our next stop (SFO), and no one was screaming...I think it was the cycling, calm Zen lights.

I love VA!

Pro- Awesome. There's no other word to describe them. They're what flying should be.

Con- They don't fly to SJU :(

Good gravy you are NOT making it easier for me to resist the siren call of paying MORE money for something we've already paid for in August....

The only responsibility of an airline is to transport you from Point A to Point B. Anything else is extra. Their extras are worth it.

The only thing to really say about them is that they are the best airline in existence.

We flew them LAX-IAD 3 weeks after they began flying that route and have flown them on that route 10 times between all 3 of us so far.

We had wanted to fly them to Orlando from LAX in december but when we made our reservations they werent sure when they were going to be flying yet and 2, while they were the same price as SW to MCO, the want about $450/person to fly back unfortunately.

This thread keeps sucking me back. :)

You're right, there's not much else to say! :goodvibes

Though on the con side, I should mention that if you're used to the SW, JB, Alaska model where you can get a *free* credit if the fare drops, VA will disappoint. They definitely have a change fee.

AUGH they still have that same fare that's lower than our SW fare going out (disfan it sounds like we're going around the same time, though I can't see the bottom part of your ticker as it's cut off). We're doing SW out and Alaska back anyway...apart from finding another $400+ in the budget to pay for it, it's SO tempting to cancel the SW and get the VA ticket! It would be so much more pleasant! Augh!

Virgin America is the best! DH and I are sadly flying Continental in December, but we're bouncing back in January and flying Virgin! They have all this in-flight entertainment on each person's individual touchscreen. The seats are comfy, and we've always been pleased with the service.

We got an insane deal from L.A. to Orlando for January. $359 total, nonstop, roundtrip, for 2 adults. In December, we're flying free on credit card points, but it would've cost at least $600 roundtrip otherwise. When we saw that deal, we jumped on it! The fare is already on sale, but there's a way to get a 20% off code if you know someone who's never flown on Virgin, and they are willing to fill out the online form about why they want to fly with them. Our fare is after the 20% off.
