Hi,

Has anyone out there scheduled a VIP tour anywhere at Disney? I found it listed at the official Disney site... It listed 95.00/hr with a minimum of 5 hours, but beyond that, there are no specific details about what they provide....

Anyone have any idea?

TIA!

The guides will walk you though the park, giving you bits of trivia along the way. They will put together a custom touring plan and make PS for your meals.

However you will NOT get front of the line access to any rides / attractions. I suspect that the tour guides will often run between FastPass machines collecting passes for your party while you are on a given ride. But don't expect them to escort you past a 45 minute standby line just because you're paying an extra $90 per hour.

Unless you really need someone to lead you by the hand, I suspect you'd do just as well with a copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW and custom plans from Touringplans.com.

And, if you want to get that behind-the-scenes view of the Magic Kingdom, book the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It's a 5 hour guided tour that gives you an in-depth look a several attractions, and even takes you down into some of the MK infrastructure. This tour will run you only about $60 per person.

$95 per hour!?! Good lord! How much for a minute?

We are doing a VIP tour in May. It is $85 per hour with a minimum of 5 hours.

We will only be able to do MK one day and want to make the most of our time.

The guides do not provide front of the line access but they do use their knowledge of the fastpass system and crowds to maximize your time in the park. You are also given VIP seating for select parades and shows.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Interesting article. Thanks for the link.

Who knows what it will be like but we are going to give it a try.

You are allowed up to 10 in a group.

Thanks everyone, I really liked that article! In our case we'd be looking to use the service on New Years Eve, specifically for getting the private viewing area for Illuminations!!

I emailed VIP Services & they won't start taking names for a waitlist until the end of September & sometime in the beginning of October they'll start going by the waitlist to contact people...

Seems like a great way to get prime viewing on the busiest night of the year!

We're going on a VIP tour this March as research for the Guide. That hourly rate is pretty steep. I did an interview of one of the VIP guides in 2002, though, and they certainly know how to treat guests well. They provide lots of Disney trivia (albeit some of it is apocryphal) and their expectations for customer satisfaction for VIP tours are insanely high, even by Disney's generally higher-than-average-to-begin-with standards. They toe the company line, so don't expect any stories that aren't officially sanctioned.

As far as making the most of one's time, it's worth noting that any non-trivial touring plan of the Magic Kingdom has billions - if not trillions - of possible combinations. No human can crunch those numbers as well as a computer. If you're just looking to save some time standing in line, there are certainly more efficient (and economical) ways of doing so. But if the "personal shopper" aspect of VIP tours is appealing (and it is to me), then the tour is worthwhile.
