Has anyone done the private tour, and if so can you tell me whether you thought it was worth it? We are currently booked for one for IOA but I am having second thoughts.

how many hour tour are you taking?

if you are staying onsite and start early at rope drop, you will not have issues with long lines and the inability to see everything you wish too.

IOA can be accomplished if you start early and stay away from the weekends.
well, depending which weekend date would determine that..

for a first timer, usually you can count on mon-thur for lesser crowds.
better yet, tues-thur for lesser crowds.

IOA can be done from early rope drop for onsite guests to park closing.
it would be cheaper to buy the express passes for the day than the vip tour if you have a short tour time period.

i have done VIP tours for special events.
none for the regular day park hours.

We are staying offsite, so we can't get in early. We are scheduled to do the 8 hour private tour, we have 9 in our group so this was our only option. We are going on a Monday in July. I can't find any trip reports or reviews of the tour, so I am hoping someone here can help!

private 8 hour tours are pricey as you already know.

you tell the guide what you want to see and he will take it from there.
you go ahead of those in the express lines.
you have no waits.
you all get a bottle of water free.
think they still do the lanyards for each in the group.

you decide when you want a break for eats.
this time is included in the tour.

you are not at the maxi number of peeps for the tour, so you are good with that.

you can check out the website and see what you want included in the tour or you can tell the tour guide to plan it his way.

suggest you let him know what the group wants to do for rides and shows.
it's easier that way.

I've done the 5 hour tours several times. We always loved them. The people who gave the tours were really funny and knowledgeable. My kids are the kind who really "take to people" and were best buddies with the guides by the end of the tour. They even sent thank you notes. I can't tell you how difficult it is to get 10 year olds to write thank yous but they did.

We stay on site now and haven't done this in years, but if we ever were in a time crunch, we'd do it again.

We did a private tour in 2008 and it was fantastic. Our group was 4 adults and 2 kids. Well worth it in our opinion - we waited for nothing and had such a fantastic time! It was the first time in a long time that I rode a ride WITH my husband since the guide stayed with the kids in the kid swap area while we rode. :thumbsup2
