I am new to posting so I hope this is in the right place. I am planning a short trip to DL in Oct (will be there Fri-Mon) and have concierge at GCH and will be booking a VIP tour. My questions are: what kinds of things should I ask to do/see on the tour, what parades and shows should we get seating for and is there a link to the baskets ect. available from vacation planning? TIA

Subscribing as we have a VIP tour booked in early July and have many of the same questions.:goodvibes

We just took the VIP tour in April. We had a group of 6. Dh, myself, our 5 and 8 year old, and MIL and FIL (they are 75 and 78). We took the tour on a Friday morning, at 10 am (park opened at 9). We could have booked for any time that day, but that time frame worked best for us. We had a large breakfast at Mimi's then hit the park for a bit before meeting up with the tour guide. I had told the person that booked the tour that we had children, and that we had wanted the discover the magic tour, but it wasnt offered. We wanted the tour to be fun for the kids as well as the adults.

Our guide was our fast pass runner. She made sure we got more when it was time. She offered to get us drinks (with our money) when we were hot and thirsty. She helped the kids get picked for jedi training. She got us front of the line when we met characters. She got us in before the other guests at turtle talk with crush. They arranged seating for the parade and fireworks the day of our trip, and block party bash, Aladdin, and the electric parade the following day. Some of the seating we used, others not. We also rode the LillyBelle train car around the park. She offered to help us get faster service at the dole whip stand.

I recomend you ask a lot of questions of the person setting up the tour for you. Give them ideas of things you might like to see or do. Dont be afraid to ask for things. They can't help you get front of the line for rides. But, they can help you get PS for some place like the blue bayou, even if its a busy day.

After our tour we were talking with a couple of other people that had taken a tour with a different guide. They were unhappy with what they had received for the money. They expected more bits of trivia and special info. They were not offered seating for shows on days other then the day of their tour. They could not believe how different our day was from theirs.

I took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour and though it was nice, it was not worth the money I paid for it, since it was about 59 dollars.

I was hoping we'd get to go into rooms that others didn't, get fast passes for rides that were hard to get on, maybe get more behind the scenes stuff. But very little of it was like that.

It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't recommend taking it.

Am I being thick? What's the VIP tour?

Its a tour booked through VIP services. Its private and you can have up to 10 people in your group (more the 10 and you pay for a 2nd guide). You must book at least 4 hours, and its $75 per hour. They will make the tour what you want it to be, within reason. But, its not a set schedule of things to see and do, like the other tours. They can't help you get front of the line for rides, but they will help you gather fast pass. They can arrange seating for various shows and meals. The tour guides are very helpful and knowledgable.

See my other post for an idea of what our tour included.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to join a VIP tour by a family I met at DL in 2005. Including me, there were nine in the group--two kids, their mom, dad, aunt, uncle, and grandparents. It was really interesting, and a lot of fun. The tour guide gave us all kinds of tidbit and history as we walked around.

She repeatedly told us that she couldn't get us FOTL on the rides, but every time we got to a ride that had a line, she got us in a back door. So you may want to try to get on some of the more popular rides.

The guide we had was really great with the kids, and the kids wanted to ride on the rides with her.

They also arranged for us to have seating at the fireworks that night. We were front and center on the train station, and it was a great view point.
