We will be visiting Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure theme parks on July 26th and 27th. Because we are staying at the Portofino, we will already have FOTL access to all the rides. But I was thinking about signing us up for the VIP Tour. Can I get some pros and cons of the VIP tours? Are they fun for "tweens"? Also, which VIP Tour is my best choice (one park/one day-and early 10am-3pm or late option 12pm-5pm, or, two parks/one day)?

the tour is catered to your desires in the park.

when you do the day vip tour, you go ahead of all lines, including the fotl/express pass lanes.

i guess it depends on which time frame works out for your family.
the charges are different based on the number of hours.

i think tweens would like the vip tour.
they will feel like a celebrity!

See, the thing with the FOTL access, is that it's the EXPRESS queue. You still have a line. When it comes to the tour-NO LINE. seriously, you go to the ride and get on.

How tall are the tweens? If they want to ride coasters, over 52 inches please. Two parks in one day is exhausting, but fun.

The guides are well trained in working with groups to better plan the day. Right now, I would say go with a 10-3. The weather tends to go bad about 3, on tour you see nearly everything and have time to play in the park afterward.

Hope this answers your questions.

54 for the coasters. Also skipping the line with the VIP tour guide is basically walking up the exit and getting on the ride. You miss the theming in the queue, and such, but thats ok if you just want the rides.

I've also thought about doing one. How much "behind the scene" info do you get? More interested in that than the rides (i'll be there 6 days, I think I'll be able to get them all in, lol).

It's 54, just need a little more coffee today. Taking a tour is a planner's dream. They don't have to worry-barring downtimes, they'll see everything.

How you doing Timmy?

You do miss the theming, but the tour guides usually give you enough back-story on the attraction(s).

Then again, so do I. :rolleyes1

Well, We've taken the plunge and signed up for the one-day/two-park VIP tour. We'll only be at Universal for a few days, and this sounds like a totally DECADENT method of park touring. I wish Disney had a similar program.
