Hi all--
Does anyone know if DVC offers the VIP cleaning service that other Disney resorts offer for people with medical needs?

I've just been diagnosed with a severe dust allergy. I did a little research on the DIS and found that this service is complimentary and can be requested given that you explain your situation to the CM.

Has anyone had experience with this at a DVC resort?

Thanks!

Yes!! I have used it twice, and have noticed a major difference...I too, have an AWFUL indoor mold & dust allergy....Maybe bring along your own pillow with a dust mite cover?? I don't bring my own pillow, but I do bring my own cover....it helps.

Yes you can request it but it may delay your check in time and the room still may not be as clean as you would expect.

my 2 kids have terrible allergies...what sort of proof from the doc will I need to bring?

From what I understand you simply call beforehand and explain your situation to a CM.

Thank you all! :wizard:

They may or may not agree to the special cleaning. Unfortunately people are requesting it who don't have allergies, but just because they want it as it sounds like the room will be cleaner. It takes quite a bit of time, and someone on the Disabilities section was told that they could not have it and that the resort determines whether or not they can accommodate that request. I have a feeling it has to do with staffing. Considering that many of the housekeeping CM's do not speak English they also may not understand what the process includes. Often special cleaning is requested by those who cannot be exposed to certain cleaning products or detergents- in that case products are used that are not going to cause a reaction and bedding is washed with a detergent that also will not cause a reaction. I'm not sure what they do about pillows but I agree that I'd bring my own along with a cover.

Allergies are a tough one. WDW is on a swamp or at least surrounded by one and there is something in bloom all the time. Cleaning the room and using some cleaners may make things worse.

We had a deep cleaning at SSR once as a special extra and we didn't get the room until almost 8:00. Wasn't so special. :)

I bring my pillow from home. I put it in one of those roll-up space saver bags so it takes up minimal room in the suitcase. I also bring my own allergy cover & pillowcase.
