I bought my first vinylmation yesterday. I got two of them and then opened them when I got in my car and was tempted to go back in and buy more.
I think this is going to become my new addiction
:banana::idea:

Which ones did you get?
That happened to me! While we were at Disney, I bought one and just couldn't stop! I've managed to stick with just the park series. 50 vinylmations later...haha!

I got one of the Urban (cup of tea) and one of the Have A Laugh (plutos sweater). I'm tempted to go buy more today, hopefully the store here has the Tron ones.

Having read a few posts here lately about vinylmation and how much fun it is to trade them in the parks, I figured I would ask how you guys go about buying them to get a starter set that you don't mind trading away? I see there are some on sale on the disney website for like 7.99, is that as cheap as they get?

The trading side looks like the kids would love it, but I def would like to get them some basic starters that they won't mind parting with for trade. I know for pins there are starter kits out there, just curious how it works with these.

There really isn't a starter set out there yet. You could buy a case from a series, but that will run you around $300. With a case you get a complete set of 11 plus the chaser and then you'd have 12 extras to trade from, as long as you wanted a complete set. If you just wanted the chaser and then some, you'd have even more.

Vinyls and especially trading are still so new that there aren't all the shortcuts like there are in pin trading (bulk bags on Ebay, etc.).

So my best bet is to buy the ones on clearance ($7.99) from the disney website?

My suggestion would be to check out www.vinylmation.net. Find a series that you really like and purchase vinyls out of that series. There are plenty of them! If you try to get all the series, it gets so expensive!

And yes, $7.99 is probably the cheapest currently. Or that I know of.

I am a Donald Duck fan and a Star Wars fan. I love the vinylmations and quickly realized how much collecting all of them would be. So I am just sticking to Donald and "THE FORCE"

Ok cool thanks for the input. I am not looking for ones to just buy, it is more i'm looking for a good way to start up a small collection (Maybe 5-10) for my 2 sons to use while in the parks. I've never heard of these before, we have always traded pins but I saw a video on the disblog showing the process of trading these at the parks and it looks like a lot of fun.

If you're only looking to trade at the parks and not collect yet then, yeah clearance on DS.com is the cheapest & best way to do it. If you want to collect then it will cost you a little more per series ($9.95-13.95) depending on which series you want to buy. Just a word of caution, once you start it's hard to stop :scared1:
