Just wondering what everybody thinks about this Disney Vinylmation stuff so I thought I'd post a poll.

Personally, I don't get it. Sure, some of the little things are cute - but overall I think they look a bit creepy.

I really like them. I never got into pin trading because I wanted to keep them all. But I am collecting the Muppets Vinylmation Series and The Holiday series. I probabally won't do more than that. But I like them. It's kinda fun not knowing what you are gonna get. Then if you have extra or need just one or two specific ones then that is what ebay is for.:yay:

I voted that I hate them. I don't get what they are supposed to be, or the appeal.

I do not judge those who find them cute. I find snakes, frogs, and turtles cute, so who am I to judge?

But I find them cheap, ugly little pieces of junk.

I could like Vinylmation if I could purchase the ones I wanted instead of buying the whole box and then trading the ones I don't want.

I think some of them are cute, I like the Kermit one and the Small World one and a few others I've seen. Some are really weird and/or ugly though. I just saw one today that is going to be at a Pin trading event that is a skull, it was awful. I haven't bought any, they don't appeal to me that much and I definitely won't start collecting them. I like pins much better. I did like the idea of getting character autographs on the larger plain white one. I thought that was a neat idea.

I like them, but I don't buy them because I think the $10 price tag is completely ridiculous. I think they're a pretty cool idea, but I also don't like that you can't pick what you buy. I know it encourages trading, but I wish there were an option to know what you're buying without buying them all.

As someone who occasionally collects things (and used to be big into trading cards), I get the whole idea behind it. The uncertainty has an appeal to it. And knowing that there's a chance you could pull a rare one, just totally 'does it' for someone into collecting. If this starts to take off even more, I wouldn't be surprised to see artist signed versions being like 1/1000 to get.

I do agree that some are quite 'unique', and the solid ones are kinda pointless (I think Disney should sell those for less, and let people choose the color. Then kids could use them for art projects or something.); but I think that many are pretty cool. If anything, you could display them in a creative way, unlike with the pins.

I can't say that I hate them or I like them.
I really don't understand them.

What are they? Little vinyl dolls? Why? How much space do they take up? Do you have to dust them? What will you do with them five years from now? Twenty five years from now?

I think I agree with the creepy part. Perhaps I will change my mind but for now.....not a fan.

Yeah - I don't understand them either. Are they all white? Are they ceramic? Do you paint them like those Mickey statues a few years ago that artists painted (I know they're smaller). I might like them if you could choose which ones you wanted - maybe. But to each his own - if you like them - good for you. :) I will continue to pay outrageous prices for Disney T-shirts when I go. :lmao:

I do collect Precious Moments figurines and I about died when the Disney ones came out a few years ago.

don't think they're cute. Don't get them at all. Wouldn't buy them even if the grandkids begged. Yuck.

Oh boy! Me too! I didn't even collect PM's, but when I saw the Disney ones I could NOT resist. I like the park ones the best. I have the little girl standing outside Small World and the little girl sitting at the table with Cinderella's castle and a couple others. Next I want to get Minnie in the teacup and the little girl riding in Dumbo.

I don't think they are that cute, but I like a few of the ones of my favorite characters like walle eve, and mike w. and sully ...but, I have put way too much money into my pin collection to start on something new. I have seen some of the vinylmation pins that I would like

I like a lot of them, and there are a few I'd really like to get, but the price tag is too steep for me to bother with very many. I collect other things that are 'you don't know what's in the box until you open it', so I'm used to that part already. But they typically either don't cost as much, or are imported so the extra expense makes more sense to me. Disney missed the mark a bit by making them cost as much as they do, imho.

you arent alone, I dont get them either

Don't get it at all.

[rant]I pointed this fact out in a recent complaint that I just sent to Zawadi Marketplace and Disney merchandising. I can get Vinylmation that serves no purpose anywhere and everywhere. I can get Pirates of the Caribbean shirts at EPCOT. But in 3 trips in 3 years (June 2008, March 2009, March 2010) I have not been able to get a decent Animal Kingdom Lodge t-shirt at the gift shop. In June 2008, they had smalls in several interesting designs and colors. In March 2009, I got a light blue one with AKL logo on the chest that I really don't like. In March 2010, they had two designs that I liked but they didn't have large or XL in either one. I spent $20K buying into this place and I don't even have the opportunity to pay $25 for a t-shirt.[/rant]
