Vinylmation question...

I had a question for those of you who collect the vinylmations. I've tried searching the net but haven't found an answer.

Do you need to keep the boxes? Or should you keep them? I'm new to it all and I would think that you should, but then people display them and they're not in the boxes. I'm confused.

Thanks for any help! I'm not going to get into it too seriously but I want to know for the ones I do have. :)

Well I don't collect them in the traditional sense. I buy mine to display and most of the time you have to open the box to see what you have. I do save the boxes though.

We have a few in boxes, like the ones from Disney Cruise Line, because the vinylmation is visible through the box. However, many are sealed and must be opened to view. For those, we have kept a few boxes just to see what was in the set (not for display), but otherwise we toss them. Avid collector's might keep them, though.

Typically any "collectible" that is brand new, mint in box, has more demand that one that is opened and out of box. However, with Vinylmation, it's kind of hard since many of the series are blind boxed. But keep in mind that most of the current vinyls will be worth next to nothing, or at best what you paid for it (sadly what the market is willing to pay for many vinyls) collect them how you want. Some people will keep a box to show what it looked like, others will display them in box (where applicable). It's really up to you.

Do they still do that Vinylmation exchange at some of the in park stores? We did it on our 1st trip in 2010 but forgot about it on our last 2 trips.

We have about 100 probably now. I haven't saved the boxes. Only the cards they used to come with.

They stopped the trading at the parks not to long ago.

Thank you everyone for all the help. :) I'm not collecting them for anyone but myself, but way down the line I wasn't sure. The fact that you have to open them to see them is what confused me since the box would then obviously not be mint.

Thanks again! :)

don't know if it's true but I was told on our last trip that there are no more Vinylmation swaps.

Disney Stores still do trading but no trading in the parks or DTD. Trading is the only reason we started buying vinylmations...since most series are blind box, you're just about sure to get a double. Plus it's fun to see what's available for trade. Wonder if they will stop making them all together.
