We have a Disney Store outlet close to us and I saw some of the Vinylmations in there. I was going to get some of them for our trip in Nov. as a surprise for the kids so they had something to trade if they wanted (looks fun). But before I buy them I want to make sure there are no restrictions on older series being traded at the shops in/around WDW.

I don't know much about them but I don't want to buy some for the kids to trade only to find out they are obsolete or untradable now.

Also-any tips for a person just starting to trade? (I think I might buy myself a few as well, LOL)

I think the only one's I've ever heard of being turned away are people who tried to trade Create Your Own vinyls, even blank ones. Other than that, I think everything is fair game. As for tips, there are a lot of threads on here that should help, but essentially, every case has 24 vinyls, 2 each of 11 common designs, one rare vinyl called a 'chaser', and the last one is just a leftover common. For example, in the villains set, the chaser is Jafar. While the rest of the vinyls in this set will sell for 10-15, Jafar will go for about 40, due to his rarity. The Park series, available in the parks and online only, are the most sought after, for the most part. The older the series, the more rare, with the exception of park 3, which disney overproduced, and there's a lot still kicking around.

Thank you-the ones they had were not the blank ones and I will make sure that I do not get those for trading purposes.

If I buy a new one in the park (still in the box so I do not know what it is) how much do they cost usually? Just trying to figure out if the ones I saw are a good deal or notI think they were $7.

Depending on the series, the 3" ones can be anywhere from 9.95 to 11.95, with some special ones being more, but those are usually special editions that are snatched up by collectors pretty quickly.

The 9" ones range from 40-50. 9 and 3 combos are usually 75.

Thank you so much for your help-I look forward to trading when we are down there. We do not know enough about them to look for "valuable" ones but I think it will be fun for the kids. Thank you again for your help!:goodvibes

As stated, you can't trade the create your owns. You also can't trade the vinylmation jr's or the 9 inch ones. They're also not supposed to accept broken figures or figures that are badly scratched up or damaged.

Just out of curiousity, what series are you seeing showing up at your Disney outlet? We have one out here and so far I've only seen the blank create your own... Just wonder what I should keep my eyes out for :)

Also, Disneystore.com has park 3's, urban 3's and clears for $5.99 right now, and the animal kingdom ones end up being $6.00 after the extra discount on them as well. If you spend over $75, you get free shipping.

You can trade vinylmations jr's at D-Street...I did in Dec. and Feb. I read that in MK they started trading the jr's, but I don't remember in which location it was.
