When we are walking from Test Track to world showcase, we often make a pitstop at the old Odyssey restaurant.

Usually while waiting for my wife, I sneak into the old restaurant and relive my 1980's childhood trips to Epcot. Anybody know why they closed the restaurant. It seems like a great spot for food.

I know they have private parties there now, not sure why it closed. It's kind of eerie to walk by it when it's empty - sad really.

As Tj said they have special events and private parties inside still. We attended a wine event in there last year for the food and wine. But when it was open we use to go there all the time. I think the reason they closed was to force the counter service to electric umbrella or to one of the countries. So basically they could eliminate a restraunt and still service everyone.

I went to WDW in 1990 for the first time since 1978. It was the first day of our trip and my first trip to Epcot. We stopped for lunch at the Odyssey and was suprised when Minnie Mouse came at sat at out table. We didn't know what a character meal was! It was my DSIL's first trip ever and Minnie is her favorite. She had tears in her eyes she was so excited. DD9 and DNephew7 (also first trip for both) danced with Chip and Dale and were as happy as two kids could be.

What a way to start a vacation!

Thank you for a wonderful memory.:)
