I am so on the fence about this one... we are going to the party but $99 each, ouch. Uggg!! What to do, what to do. :confused3

The thing I think was rude of Disney was not to email guests who bought tickets to the Halloween party to let them know about the Villain Soiree that they were making available.
We booked our trip a while ago and they know we have tickets to the party. Fortunately, I came over to this forum and found out about the new addition otherwise, it would have sold out and I wouldn't have had the chance to get tickets. I just found out about it on Saturday and when I called to book Sunday morning, the 10:15 soiree was already sold out. I was so happy that the 11:45 soiree was still available (the one I wanted anyway so we don't miss any of the party).
It's like they snuck in the party and didn't announce it. They email me about everything else and I have the app...would have been easy for them to send a blast to everyone who bought tickets.

I totally agree with you, we get notified for every thing else included a very nice letter from the wilderness lodge about the pool situation, I don't know why Disney choose not to inform anyone who already brought tickets. I also was able to get mine but for the later seating which is fine by me. I look at it this way I can always change my mine and cancel 24 hours before but for now we are definitely going

Guess what? Most of you reading this are going to Disney world very soon.... There are many people that will never get to go or only will go over in their life... Count yourself lucky... Does it such the way they did the change? Yes. Is it going to run the trip? Not if you don't let it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you don't like Disney, you spend your money elsewhere. I feel like the majority of this thread is "beating a dead horse". No one is going to change anyone's mind (for it against or whatever) and people are looking to this thread for information on the party. Personally, I am going to un-sub from this thread and look elsewhere. Just figured everyone needed a reminder how lucky they are to even have the money to afford to go to Disney (with or without the soirée).

So I assume you never ever complain about anything short of not enough to eat or a place to sleep?

Thanks, but I don't need the reminder and I doubt anyone else does either.

It looks like they have added two soirees to each of the party nights. They must be selling very well.

I'm one that adores the MNSSHP and will go twice next week. I also think the value of the MVMCP party is very poor and will never go again. So everyone's different.

Same here as well, though I've never gone more than once in the same season, let alone the same week! Been to MNSSHP at least 10 times and have been to MVMCP once and that was enough! I greatly prefer the holiday offerings up the road at Universal. Oddly enough, I've never been to HHN...not even once.

If they cut back on MVMCP any to put together a paid event within a paid event, they won't have much left! ;)

We've been to far more Christmas parties, simply because it's harder for us to get there in the fall.

Good grief... one says its great and the other says it was awful. :confused3

I think it depends on what you're most interested in, and whether 1hr for such a party seems like enough time with the characters in CRT.

For me, that's plenty. Just like every character meal -- we're in and out within 1 hr. Sounds like the second reviewer felt rushed. To each his own!!

Everyone has a different idea of what's worth $99 to them. For a new, unique experience, and not wanting more than 1hr in CRT, this is well worth it to us. For others, no way.

Up to you... :)

My issue about the Soiree isn't the $99. Yes, I feel the money is quite steep for what really amount to 2 FP+ reservations and a dessert party with some characters.

A very big reason that we go to WDW is to meet characters. It is an even bigger reason as to why we attend the Halloween and Christmas Party. Last year we attended 4 MNSSHP and 4 MVMCP.

We have very little interest in the Halloween Parade. We usually skip the fireworks too, or we half watch them while we are walking somewhere else. So the FP+ for the parade and fireworks would be of no real value to us. I would rather use that time we would be lining up to meet other characters.

Due to many allergies, I already know that many of the desserts that are offered I wouldn't be able to eat. having much experience with Disney Dining, that would mean I would more than likely end up with Cookies and Brownies instead of the speciality desserts.

My main issue with the Soiree is that it is taking characters away that are extremely popular and have been available using the base party ticket for years. Last year at the Mix and Mingle we were able to meet Maleficent, Queen Grimhilde, Captain Hook, Cruella, Frollo, Dr Facilier at one party. Now Maleficent (possibly the most popular Disney Villain) Captain Hook and Queen Grimhilde are Soree exclusive. The others are only offering a dance party where you can only take candid photos that rarely turn out due to constant movement, lighting and other people being in the photo (often ending up in front of the villain you're trying to take a photo of)

If the Soiree was an extra $99 and they offered rare and exclusive villains (Mother Gothel, Hans, Hades, Meg, Oggie Boogie, Hyenas from LK) I might even consider paying the $99 for the opportunity. But to remove three very popular villains from the base ticket isn't right. Can Disney do it? Of course they can. But that doesn't make it the right thing to do.

Most people who have an issue with the Soiree has an issue with the removal of characters, specifically the Mix and Mingle. I don't even understand why it's still called a Mingle when the characters are now only on stage. :confused3

Im really tired of people getting bent out of shape over people's opinions, and telling people what to do. I don't believe anyone who has booked a trip to Disney does not take into consideration how lucky they are to be going on a vacation.
Sometimes situations arise within a event or trip that people feel the need to let others know so that they can benefit from their experiences, itsn't that what people are doing with the soiree waiting to hear about what is going on from the first couple of MNSSHP to make their decisions as to whether or not to attend

I'm so frustrated!

I have the 9:55 seating booked on October 9, which I booked the morning of the announcement. I have been trying to book the 11:45 seating instead for days now, ever since they announced 2 soirees for almost every night. I keep getting told over and over again that it's unavailable, even pretty much the moment it was announced (with social media, I found out about it quickly!). I keep hearing to keep trying, but it's getting frustrating. The CM's either don't know what the soiree is, or act surprised/don't seem to believe that there is a later seating. I have not talked to one CM who was knowledgeable about this yet so when they look and tell me it's unavailable, I have trouble believing it! I have tried the special events line and the dining line. Just tried dining line, and got a CM who said "They have Cinderella's Royal Table open that late???" :sad2: Am now on hold with a 30 minute wait on the events line. Geez!

Mostly I'm just venting, but also wondering if anyone knows if Oct 9 is booked??

I'm with you. Luckily we aren't that interested in characters since I have a feeling that they might do this for MVMCP too. I don't understand making those characters that normally show up in the park during the regular party exclusive. I didn't realize that Captain Hook was like that too. :headache:

Does anyone know if you have an allergy if it is being addressed at the party.
I don't mind not eating anything at all I rather just meet the villians, but can you get the dessert plate minus one or two of the desserts based on a allergy.
Thanks
