Villians Sinister Soirée

I booked 2 for 10/3 when it said there was just one seating that day. Now there is a later one? What are the benefits to later? Longer party hours and an empty park afterwards? Being inside the castle when the çlock strikes 12? I am excited for the reviews.

For me the benifit of the later seating is giving me a chance to fit in more character meets and greets considering that many stop at 10:30 or 11:00

Makes sense! I'm doing the earlier one for two reasons: 1) taking the kids and want them as "fresh" as possible for the experience, and 2) I suspect we'll still be up for more fun, and the park will be less crowded for that 11-12 hour. :) Those reasons, plus we're not interested in any other M&G's, so being out-and-about earlier doesn't matter to us in the same way.

After I realized this fact I decided to switch to the later seating as well for the same reason. I want to be sure to have time to see the ghosts outside of haunted mansion, and also I wanted the option to see the second parade if we wanted to.

We are just two adults, so we should be ok staying up late. My kids are still small. If they were coming I'm not sure we would be doing this at all. Even with a nap during the day they burn out and become little terrors by 9.

MNSSHP LE MBs Limited to 5000 I said it when this soiree' was first announced why can't there be a LE MNSSHP MB for those of us ponying up an additional $100 + and what do you know They exist

Now would it kill them to give each soiree' attendee one of these ? At least then the add on party was about $70. ? Will you buy these ? I'd love to have one but I'm out :sad2: they have finally reached my breaking point both financially but more importantly the $$ grab is getting more so every day.

I agree, it would be a nice added extra for guests at the dessert part but I very much doubt they will do it
The premium package at the F&W festival came with a limited edition magic band included as well as other gifts
I really want the limited edition haunted mansion band but doubt there will be any left by the end of October

Oh they won't do it. I'm not doing the F&W premium pkg but I think that was $199. included a bottle of champagne too.

I am waving my own personal flag of defeat. After Oct 24 night of MNSSHP & soiree' I am finished. 1/2 those plans could change too depending on reviews.

I'll still always go to Ft Wilderness for a day and Chef Mickeys to celebrate things, but it will be a very long time before I step in a park again. No APs, nothing I truly am done for awhile.

It would have been nice to include with the soirée ticket, but I'm not bothered by this at all. This is actually one that doesn't interest me -- I wouldn't reuse a Halloween band outside of Halloween. But why would I care if someone who would like this has the option?

They have a very easily customizable product with magic bands. Why is it a "money grab" for them to offer a big variety of them?? Is it a money grab that they offer an array of phone cases or mugs? I don't get the issue here at all.

What bothers me Carolyn is the basic MNSSHP seems to change every day with what characters are included, it appears to be less than what they first said on the official blog. We've all been watching that. I'm just saying they keep offering more for an extra extra price and less for things that are costing extra to begin with. I still don't like that there are no definitive answers about the soiree' either. How long exactly? 30 minutes ? 45 ? How many in the castle at a time, no guesses why can't they tell us ? Many questions that are skipped over, deleted, or ignored on the official blog. They can do all that with the term " subject to change". Extremely frustrating.

It's my personal issue, my personal breaking point. As a company they can do what they want, I get that. As the Disney company, and I haven't worn rose colored glasses for a very very long time, the focus seems to have shifted tremendously.

Caveat Emptor I guess.

Just seems like conflating issues to me: 1) a new optional MB purchase, with 2) changing an existing offering without notice.

I get that things can "add up" and start to annoy us. But it isn't a money grab to offer differentiated products to those interested in paying. Disney is doing more of this than they used to, but they're not doing anything "wrong" by selling a variety of MBs any more than they're doing something wrong by selling a variety of mugs. That was my point.

And like with any change, some people will say "forget it -- I'm done with Disney -- and a relative-handful will actually follow through with that. That's true for any business that changes. This is to be expected -- not necessarily a sign that Disney has misstepped unless people --ON NET-- leave en masse.

I'm annoyed by the last minute changes. I'm annoyed by announcements that get made with fanfare, and deleted very quietly -- that's ridiculous. I'm just not going to subscribe to the idea that a company making money by segmenting its offerings is doing anything wrong -- whether i want to partake in those offerings or not. That's actually separate from them botching the timing of announcements, etc. as they have here.

It is 2 different issues but when I have had enough it all gets hard to see that. The lines blur.

Personally I have never taken the " I'm done with Disney" stance. I would have never in a million years thought I would utter those words. This is the first time I feel this way, in 40 years, I know it won't feel that way forever. If I said I would never go back I would be lying to myself. Just too many things changing too fast for ME.

For me it is starting to feel like it is all about the money and who in the company gives a damn about the experiences. That sentiment is felt by so many other companies I deal with. I expect it. I guess I never expected to feel it there.

I get what you're saying. A little while back I LOST IT when I read some people showed up to ride Soarin just to find that you couldn't even ride STANDBY because their nifty little experimental paper tickets were gone for the day. WHAT?!?! Drove me nuts. Eventually I calmed down... Still think this was INSANE without notice, but I'm off the ledge... for now... ;)

I like change in general -- I'm a little odd that way. Maybe that's why MOST of this doesn't bug me. But I will maintain that they're not doing anything "wrong" with the upsells, differentiation, etc. If enough of their customers stuck their noses up at all of this, they'd slow it down -- but that's not happening.

About not having more soirée details... I was just thinking about this... you and I -- and many others -- bought these tix WITHOUT these details. Same with that $199 F&W offering (not you and I, but others did on that one). If I'm Disney, apparently I don't NEED to give details to sell all my tix to something NEW -- not a priority. Now if I'm booking Behind the Seeds or Wild Africa Trek, I know PRECISELY what to expect. I think this is just a reality about these new offerings. If they become "standard", the KEY details (duration, etc.) are all there up front (characters subject to change, etc where applicable -- I accept that). But I'm a planner... I like DETAILS... So it still annoys me... ;)

I'm fine with the upsells too. I might roll my eyes a bit, but really I just don't care. But I'm only good with it as long as they don't take things away from the other customers (the ones who already paid admission) to accomplish it.

If it turns out that they have taken Maleficent and Evil Queen from MNSSHP to make them exclusive at the VSS, then that's a new level of low for them.

I agree -- I wouldn't like that at all. And what would put that over the top for me is the TIMING of announcements. If they elect to make some characters exclusive to specific $$ events, which I still wouldn't personally like, that should be clear when tix are sold -- not four months later and a week before the event.

Have to admit, ALL good points from both of you...ok maybe it's just my time to be " out on the ledge " maybe not, I just don't feel like a happy camper right now.

Yes, we have created the monster of " we bought it but we don't know exactly what we bought ( the soiree' ) ". I never liked " grab bags " as a kid. I rather know exactly what's in there. I should have waited on that, not their fault. Mine.

They better not change there stance on refundable if any of us decide to jump off that ship. See that's it in a nut shell, I don't TRUST the company anymore. They seem to be talking out of both sides of their mouth.

They can't do this - seriously. That's a horse of a different color: "it's refundable... ... Psych!!!" Nope. Can't do it. :)

Point me to where it says this. I want to print it out. Seriously I don't trust.
I have nothing in writing that I know of. Did I miss it ?

Not in writing directly from Disney that I've seen. But CMs all appear to have rattled it off when booking. If one or two people heard this, I discount it entirely. Everyone?? Nope... Disney won't change this. I'd be SHOCKED.

They are shocking me left and right lately. I HOPE I am just being cynical here.
Better yet I am REALLY hopeful that the majority of the attendees come back and say they loved it. :thumbsup2 I'd like to feel excited about this again.

I wonder if Kenny or Josh or any of the Disboards mods or anyone are going ?
