We're planning a trip in April 08 with my younger brother - 24 with Spina Bifida and wheelchair bound. We prefer to stay in a villa usually and I was wondering if anyone knew of any villas with disabled access. i.e roll in shower and a pool hoist if possible.

All DVC resorts have accessible villas in all categories (studios, 1/2 bedrooms, and grand villas.

As far as pools go, I would highly recommend the pool at SSR because it has a zero entry pool, and using one of their water wheelchairs, you'd be able to wheel your brother in and out of the pool with ease.

Also SSR has a hoist at one of the awesome hot tubs, so if your brother likes to soak in a hot tub, then no problem!

They have them out there i think it was either emarld island or indian river ..Do a search in ei then when they ask what all you need type in wheel chair assc..There is one i was reading and thinking for my son ...I even think the pool has one of tose harness strap..The family has there own son with a disabilty .They are out there keep looking i will look to see if i saved it ..Good luck ...

We were just there in January and met Steve Trover from All Star Vacation homes. Kind of a chance meeting but when he saw us he told us about a villa he manages that is completely handicapped accessible (including pool lift)because the owner is in a wheelchair.
