Villas at the Grand Floridian Presale to Begin May 25th?

Since VGF didn't exist in Dec 2012, you should only get the 2013 points.

BLT opened on August 4, 2009, and sales started in late September and early October of 2008.

All Use Years at BLT started with the 2009 Use Year. Members who bought February, March, April, June, and August UYs had their points available for use within the DVC system on August 4, 2009.

Members who bought BLT with UYs of September, October, or December had to wait until their UY started in 2009 before their points could be used within the DVC system. Thus, if a Member bought BLT points in October 2008 with a December UY, they had to wait until December 1, 2009, before they could use those points anywhere within the DVC system.

Sorry if this has already been posted on this thread but can anyone verify that GF owners who purchase on the 23rd May can start booking from that date while owners at other resort can start making bookings from 23rd June and that it opens on 23rd October?

That points chart is impressive. It costs 56 more points per week during magic season for 2BR for LV at VGF than it does for same time at theme park view BLT.

Sorry but the convenience, cost and view trump theme any day.

Sticking with BLT. I'll pass on this one. We will see what the Poly looks like.

I have verified with DVC that when VGF opens it will be finished. Now of course all rooms won't be DVC until sold out.

Also there will be delay in booking for non VGF members as it was for BLT.

The grand villas will have a media room, which while not classified as a bedroom on points charts it will have a sofa bed and can be closed off.

Until the end of year non VGF members will only be allowed to book 4 months out. After the end of the year it will go back to 7 months.

Ummm...may I gently point out that you may have a typo on opening date.:confused3

Yep, it was a typo. I actually made the same mistake twice in my original post but only caught one of the typos before I submitted the post.

We added on 25 points with a Use Year month of August. I can't wait to book on Thursday!

Congrats!

Question for you- did you get 2013 points? Or just 2014 points? I also have an August use year and wondering what the answer is.

Thanks!

That is what MS is telling members who call to ask. :)

I just told DH all the info and he was like 'yep we will stick to BLT!' The points chart is just too much for us.

Owning DVC so for decades really changes your options. This is the first year we have no kids in school, so we finally have a chance to look at early Dec or Jan/Sept.

We still love XMAS week for many reasons, and will go on occasion-but being used to that week and Easter, the points chart at VGF suddenly looks very doable. While its still much more per night than others-I can see us staying off peak at VGF sometimes for sure-at least to see how we like it. Still splitting with BCV of course.

Wow, my 170 points won't go far here. :sad1:

Guess I'll be "just visiting".

Congrats to all who add on! :thumbsup2

I think the rooms look beautiful! We won't be adding on so my biggest excitement is the possibility that my BLT or VWL Thanksgiving waitlist might open up if people switch! ;)

Seeing the selling price of $145 plus $5.41 dues just for this year, and that a studio in the lowest season takes 125 points, I wonder how this will affect the rental market? If we assume that VGF point owners will want $15 to $16 pp rental because of the higher initial price, that will put a week in that studio at $1875 to $2000.

On the other hand, if OKW rentals garner, say $12 to $13 per point and take 76 points for the same time frame, making them $912 to $988, will renters be willing to pay double the amount of money to stay at the GF over OKW? Or, will we finally see a DVC resort that basically priced rentals so high that there is an extremely limited rental market for those points?

This is a great question. I suspect that the strategy will be for people to try to book at 7 months with the $12 OKW and SSR rented points.

But I also wonder what the rack rate for these rooms will be. I think that if they are significantly higher, there will be room for an increase on point rental prices. But even if that is the case, I wonder if VGF owners who choose to rent out their points will be savvy enough to try to command that premium.

I have verified with DVC that when VGF opens it will be finished. Now of course all rooms won't be DVC until sold out.

So what you're saying is that the majority of rooms will initially be able to be booked through CRO?

Right now I think the smart money is on the Poly DVC becoming the crown jewel at WDW.

However, the Poly could wind up being just as expensive as VGF.

My favorite (we all have one;)) remains BWV.

1 week @ BWV 2BR Boardwalk View during Magic Season = 350 pts X $5.84/pt = $2044

1 week @ VWF 2BR Lake View during Magic Season = 551 pts X $5.41/pt = $2981

That's a difference of 46%.

A Studio is a similar difference ($771 vs. $1077), about 40%.

I earnestly considered buying VGF points but the absolute price difference is just painful.

Oh my gosh! I tried to contact our guide to talk about possible add on at VGF and learned she just recently passed away. :sad1: What a shock and sad news to lose a DVC family member. Thanks KJ for everything! You kept it magical pixiedust:

My DH says he's holding out for a Star Wars DVC! Meanwhile, we'll stick with BLT.

Congratulations to all of you who are buying!

Our guide said that with borrowing we would have 75 points to book with so I am thinking we get 2013 and 2014 and then can borrow from 2015? This was how it worked when we bought at BLT. I hope that is true. I may call again tomorrow to double check.
