Villas At Eagle Pines - It's A Go

I can't wait to hear more about this newest resort...hope the prices aren't super high. Are these villas going to part of DVC II??? I wonder...

Have you found the link to this story? We have heard past RUMORS of a new DVC, but no OFFICIAL word about it. I called my guide(RON), and he said he knows nothing about this project?
Have you found the link to this story? If so, will you please tell us how we can get to it, or read it?
Thanks!!! I sure hope that this comes true!!

A whole day has past and still no offical word on Dow jones News or the Disney Website.

I am growing very suspicious of this story. You would think some news organization would carry a story about a new 600 room resort being built on Disney Property. Not to mention the publicity Disney would want to give a project of this magnatude.

Suspicuous, very suspicious indeed........

I agree! I've read too much rumored info!
I HOPE that it's true, but....like the old saying....I'll believe it when I see it(or readthe official release).

gscott reported MS confirmed it but wouldn't give details. BCV wasn't reported on the stock services either. I would expect to see something in the Orlando Sentinel soon.

Pam - South Point was well established when we purchased in July 1995. In fact we stayed in that area in both 1995, 1996, and 1998. We haven't yet stayed in the "old" section of OKW.

Does this mean that us golfers will have to put up with construction for the next 4 + years during a round of golf?: This course is advertised as a very secluded type of course winding through some very picturesque ? scenery. Sorry about the spelling, but this really disturbs me.

A lot of talk about a DVC II and the time remaining on DVC I. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe if you buy a timeshare in Mexico you can only own it for 30 years (if you're not a Mexican citizen) before it reverts back? This doesn't seem to hurt the timeshare market in Mexico. I don't know how prices compare to DVC but this might indicate that DVC I may be viable to about the 30-35 year window.

This was from a guide today....

FACT:
Another confirmation of a 600 room villa at Eagle Pines...

It will be built in phases and will be open 2004...

There was no annoucement at the guide meeting of changing the end date.

Feel free to call member services and ask - they will read you the announcement.

OPINION:
WLV is selling so fast and BCV will as well. I think BCV will have the 2042 end date. Why change when its moving like it is?

The new resort as big as it is might be the kickoff.

The end date change presents a real problem for Disney. Okay, buy at Eagle Pines and you will have 50 years to vacation -- except the first 40, you can stay at 6 resorts, for the last 10, you can only stay at Eagle Pines. (VEP - Villas at Eagle Pines??)

Disney seems to be keeping DVC in WDW - and there is only so much land left - how many more resorts can they build??

Maybe there will never be a new end date? Who knows?

I have just been reading up on resales following a tour of DVC open house yesterday. Impressed with WLV but think BWV suits better. During the tour the salesman ( senior chap with 7 years DVC involvement provided the following information that may be helpful to this thread:

1. Large meeting earlier in the week of DVC sales people that confirmed within DVC of plans that included

2. Next DVC (after BC) to be LARGE (? did not ask number) self contained luxury resort at Eagles Pine in keeping with ambiance of OKW....not AK as I hoped.

3.Projected starting price $100 per point!

4. WLV projected sell out September 2001. BC not due for completion Sept 2002.
Presales of BC a possibility - price confirmed to start at $80 and then $85

This was no hard sell by DVC. I asked these specific questions and got surprisingly specific answers. This seems to agree with the majority of this thread so just wanted to share what little I have been told

Now to find that elusive 150 BWV package before the price rise again....I presume in September when WLV sells out.......

This would be great news and well worth the Pizza I'll owe Dan if this goes through.

looks like DVC is going after an "older" crowd

It sounds good. A CM at HHI told me last week (am pondering an add on at HHI), and
she said she was moving to Orlando after HHI sells out, and she said stay tuned,
so this must be it!
Sounds good, I like golf, good location, Just hope they have a pool to rival Y AND BC, or
Luna Park.
Wouldn't it be nice for DVC members to have a pool as good as Y and BC, for Our use?
No need for pool hopping then...LOL

Deerh
Hoping the pool is a reality..... Golf for adults, Theme Pool for kids, Ideal for DVC!
Glad I thought of it..
deerh:D

Project starting price for VEP $100, that seems pretty high. With BCV starting at $80 and then up to $85, the $100/pt would be an additional 18% more. Do you think they will continue to raise $5/pt as BCV begins to sell out, or just make the jump with the first phase of VEP?

From June 2000 to June 2001 the price increased 12%. It could go up 24% between June 2002 and June 2004 from $85 to $105.

Some OKW chronology:

We joined in 6/92. Only Miller's Road existed; the bridge at Turtle Krawl was blocked off.

First Penninsular was opened up to the junction with Old Turtle Pond Rd. Then the South Point area was opened. Originally it was treated as an extension of Peninsular Road (there wasn't a corner or stop sign yet), and the two bus stops were called Peninsular I and II. That always caused confusion getting off the buses! Sometime later the name was changed to South Point.

Finally Old Turtle Pond Rd opened.

Sorry I don't have dates for all this, but my pics are all at home ;)

Peter, I remember Peninsular I and II but I think you've got Old Turtle Pond out of sequence. My first stay at Disney Vacation Club in Sept. 1993 was at Old Turtle Pond. Some trip after that the construction was taking place for South Point with a wall up. The numbering of units also places South Point construction after Old Turtle Pond.

I agree with Pam - I distinctly recall staying on Old Turtle Pond Rd while South Point was still under construction.

Pam, you could very well be correct. I don't have any of my reference stuff here at work, and my recollection of things longer ago than this morning is a bit fuzzy :) However, I can visualize riding the bus straight through the Peninsular/Turtle Pond/South Point intersection, and seeing the construction wall to the side. Of course, if someone told me it was the other way around, I could probably visualize that too!

:bounce: :bounce: DVCJohn -- Thanks for finding the release! I've been going crazy trying to get confirmation. I'll have to read it over. Sounds good to me!

Peter -- Some days my mind is all fuzz! ;)
