Villains After Hours or One Day Base?

Hello Dis community,

I am in need of some votes. We will be in Orlando towards the end of the summer and want to do something Disney for a day during our non-Disney vacation. Last summer we did 6 days on property, dinning, the whole she-bang, so this summer we are vacationing differently. Last summer, just my son and I ended up doing an after hours for his birthday present during our trip and we were amazed at just how many rides we were able to ride and how many treats we enjoyed and the fact that we felt we had the park mostly to ourselves! This year I was thinking we should do one day- base tickets to MK, hit our faves, watch fireworks and get a quick Disney fix, but then Disney released the Villains after-hours event and I was wondering if that might be a better choice? This would help us deal with heat a bit better, hopefully avoid crazy crowds, and not even have to worry about FP. If you were me, which of these would you choose? One day base to MK or Villains After-hours event? Our group consists of 5 adults (one will use a scooter/wheelchair) and 3 kids 5 and over.....thanks in advance for the feedback!!!

Hi! :wave2:

I would say since both are probably going to cost you close to the same....the DAH ticket is $135 correct? And the one day ticket is anywhere between $109-$125, you just have to decide what works better for your family. You said the end of summer, so I scrolled to August to see what tickets cost for that month. I've heard DAH is really nice. Allowing park entry at 7, which means you're actually getting 7-8 hours of park time. If the park closes at 11, you're getting 3 hours from 11-2. If they close at 10, then you get from 10-1. Either way....that's an AWESOME time to be in the parks that late with very little crowds. You could still do FP....from the time you enter the park till the DAH begins. How cool would that be? Being able to do rides numerous times that way! :cool1: DAH falls on Thursday nights, so it wouldn't work with my family and how we travel. Thursday is typically our travel day home. I'm going to do EMM next time we visit as being a FL resident, that's an easier expense to handle than the DAH. Tickets only cost me anywhere from $49-$62 a day. DAH is twice that...if not more. EMM only runs about $79. So in reality, I'd be paying let's say on the low end if I travel the same time we are this year, $120 for one day's park entry. Non residents start at that and would have to pay that on top of the $79, so I still come out in the plus. I only get an hour and 45 minutes of ride time in Fantasyland, but since that's where most of mine and my son's favorite rides are...it still works out for us. We could wipe out Fantasyland rides during EMM and spend the rest of our day in the other lands. We were going to do it this trip, but because of how I set up our park days, it wasn't going to work. I already had FPs in place when I had considered doing it and didn't want to even try and move things around. Sorry to go off track. :rolleyes1

Sounds like you really enjoyed the DAH last time, so then I'll say go for it again. Could be pretty cool with the Villains in place for the summer months! Have fun! :thumbsup2

We go the end of August every year and, yeah, it is SUPER hot. Hot to the point that we can't spend a whole day in the parks. We do the morning, take a long break and then go back early evening when the sun has abated a little, but even then, it's still hot. My DS can't stay up late for DAH, but if he could, yes, that would be my choice! Once the sun goes down in August, it is SO much nicer. Imagine, an empty MK without the blazing sun. If you are only going for one day and if your kids can stay up that late, I would definitely opt for DAH.

We did a non-park trip to Orlando last July and when DAH was announced we added one night at Disney with DAH. It was a great addition. I would absolutely vote for DAH.

I also vote for DAH. It’ll be cooler at night and we always get more done during DAH than a one day ticket.

You are all AWESOME! Thanks for the feedback. I think we will go for the Villains After Hours event. I better get some tickets ASAP, I have no idea if this event will sellout and don't want to wait until it's too late to find out! Haha!
