Decided to buy DVC (finally) but waiting for one of our projects to sale so we can pay cash. Getting great info here & even more excited. I have a question

I know people will say views dont matter you dont stay in the room, but they matter to me as I don't watch tv on vacations like hubby does and enjoy sitting outside and reading and seeing the cool Disney atmosphere.

When you use your Dvc are the villas most all have nice views or do you have to specifically request? I wouldnt really care if it were pool, park or whatever, just would prefer no parking lot or grass & bush view. Do DVC have parking lot/garden type rooms?

I know Boardwalk has preferred points you can book. I plan on "sleeping around" and trying the different resorts until I find which I feel most at Home.

Thanks for the info, can't wait to be your Neighbor!

If view is a deal breaker, you may be disappointed. The only guarenteed "good view" is the Boardwalk View, and if you want that consistantly you will want to own there. Otherwise, DVC resorts come with a variety of views, including parking lots, gardens, pools, trees, and dumpsters. And, once again with the exception of the Boardwalk View, its luck of the draw.

Okw has some very nice views.

you can pick from water, golf or woods. be near a bus stop, pool, or hh.

now that say -if you get a studio on the first floor - you can be near the air conditioning units - so don't. My mother is 83 so it is first floor for me.

you can also get a handicapped room. these are great if you have a wheelchair if you don't. the studio has no tub only a shower. the shower has nothing to kept the water in (for wheelchair) and the slant is going the wrong way. So the bathroom will be very, very wet.

OKW has no elevators except the new units of 62, 63, 64.

VWL generally has a woods view - just ask for anything here the lake - the bad views are on the other side.

BWV as has been noted has several views - BW (the best), preferred (no BW - no parking lot), and standard (parking lot plus drive way).

but standard also has beautiful gardens in front of the units. I have lovely my standard views. My preferred views were generally of that stupid clown and boy I learned to hate it!

SSR views - DD beautiful but it is a long walk to CH.

so here you have decide it you want a nice view or easy access to their restuarant, gift shop, main pool, etc. of course their views aren't bad - generally the lake or other units.

DVC definitely designs their building better than WDW hotel do.

they try to give everyone a good view. Of course not very view will be perfect.

but I have gotten much better views with my DVC than just about anytime with the WDW resorts.

Hey, don;t forget Vero Beach where you can book an Ocean View Inn Room, the only guaranteed ocean view on the property.

As for WDW, I quite enjoy the view of the landscaping between me and the parking lot for the BWV Std View, and the high fireworks from Illuminations are nice too. We will be trying out the BW View in October too. But then, neither of these views are going to be available on a regular basis to non-BWV owners, as folks like me will grab them at the 11 month mark (at least for the longer stays).

Otherwise, no guaranteed views, so if that's a deal-breaker, you may want to think about it.

I can honestly say that in 20 plus stays at OKW, we have never had a bad view. We don't stay in studios though, and I do know that most studios there are on the ends of the buildings, and probably don't have much to see. The huge balcony in the 1,2,or 3 bedroom units is great though! The parking lots are where you enter the buildings, and all the views are on the other side of the building, so no worry there. We had a great view at SSR too. Not sure, but I think those rooms all face away from the parking lots too.

preferred (no BW - no parking lot),
BW preferred view does contain parking lot views. It's the view of the valet parking lot and a service area driveway. I had this view in 2003. I was suprised it was PV points----I even called MS and BW and they both confirmed it. Now to give credit where it's due, we also had a view of the canal and TOT off to the far right if we were standing out on our balcony. But for future reference, I'll request "pool view" if I ever book on PV points. Just a friendly head's up.

Yep, that's correct, there is no parking view at SSR. :cool1:

I think you will find that the "premier" views in WDW are located at the Disney Deluxe resorts such as Poly, Animal Kingdom, GF, CR, and the Epcot resorts (and you surely pay for them)

With that being said, BWV has some nice lagoon/BW views and OKW for that secluded feel, and finally SSR if you like DTD. Other than that, slim pickins. But then again, you dont buy DVC for views, you buy to get the most bang for your buck.

I disagree. I think ALL the DVC resorts have good views. Sure, BCV and BWV have some parking lot views, but so do some of the hotel rooms at those resorts. VWL has beautiful woods views, and really make you feel like you are in the themed Pacific Northwest. Besides, DVC resorts ARE deluxes.

I agree with Diane. I've even read some TR's over the years where people didn't get such great views at places like the GF and the Poly. I feel every resort (DVC or other) has the good and not-so-good views.

I agree you will have less-desirable views at all resorts, but you cant argue that the best views in WDW are at Disney Deluxe resorts. That is why they are the most expensive. What view in DVC would you compare to a Poly or GF or Cont MK castle view, or AKL savannah view, or YC/BC lagoon view (except for the few BW views)? For many these views arent worth the cost (diff strokes for diff folks), but for alot of us they are.

I would compare ANY view at all of those to a great view at OKW. Sure, all those mentioned have great views too, but that doesn't mean the DVC views aren't as good. In fact, I much prefer the views at VWL and OKW to those of Poly, GF, or Poly.

I agree there are great views at DVC resorts, the problem is that if view is going to make or break your trip, there is no guarentee of a great view. Like all other DVC requests, it is a request. Since DVC can't even guarentee smoking/non-smoking, they can't guarentee you won't get a view of a road, or a dumpster or a parking lot - and most DVC resorts have at least a few rooms with less than desireable views.

I own both DVC (recently got 120 pt contract at BCV) and also still frequent the Deluxe resorts. The reason I still plan on doing the regular hotel room once every 2 years or split my stay is to experience the ultimate in location/theming/and views. OF COURSE this is subjective, but there is a reason why Disney charges premium rates for these locations.

I am not "downing" DVC as a few hyper-sensitive people may feel about me judging their investments ... but if you want a guaranteed "Disney magic" view free of cars, roads, parking (unless you consider trees Disney "magic"), either reserve a BW view (if the theme appeals to you) or maybe split your stay and stay a few nights at Poly, AKL, CR, or GF . OKW is indeed beautiful but seems somewhat removed from the Disney ambience, VWL is also nice but the trees are the main attraction out your balcony, BCV doesnt really have any super views unless you can block out the service road, and BWV as already discussed. Sarataga (not from experience) may offer something more.

I am REALLY big on views too and this is JUST my opinion (flame suit prepared)...

we haven't asked the op what their best view was.

if the lagoon view Polyn - then no DVC can't compare to that. However anyother view from the Polyn - DVC can definitely compare to!!!

same with the Cont and GF - the views of the MK are that!!

however to have a great room and a great view I would definitely go with DVC.

the whole time we were in the lagoon view at the Polyn - mother kept saying how much she missed OKW..... Before then I was asked when we were staying at the Polyn again (it had been years).

Especially if you go with a 1 or 2 bedroom that most members get - it is something special believe me.

Respectfully, how do you guarantee a Disney magic view at the Poly, AKL, CR or GF? :confused3

I've read plenty of posts complaining about the rooms and views at all of those resorts.

Best wishes -

The same way I can guarantee that a hurricane wont hit when Im down there - I cant !

It all depends on the eyes on the beholder, I never meant to imply that DVC views are like looking into skid-row ... just keep your expectations reasonable (for those who are new to the DVC resorts)...

Thanks for the imput. I see BC and Saratoga on the water and just wondered if DVC gets preferred rooms. Hubby is thinking those 2 resorts. I was just hoping that they were always guaranteed nice stuff and not parking lot. Won't make or break a trip I just love looking at Water and sparkly lights on vacation. Doesn't take much to entertain me. Such as this  . Sad isn't it ?

Btw... nice to see mostly everyone has good things to say about DVC. Makes me even more anxious

the BCV rooms aren't on the water neither is most of VWL.

So BWV, SSR and OKW.

OKW has lots of water views!!! they are some of the best views at WDW. (my opinion).

but for the best then VB - as has been mentioned their water views are the ocean!!!!

The BCV are in a separate bldg from the BC rooms. It's more quiet, behind the BC and closer to the parking lot. But when we stay at BCV, we always get the leisure pool/parking lot view because it is so nice. You can see the canal that runs through the villas and under the driveway into the BC.

We have only gotten one less than perfect view at OKW and I think it was the one that another DISer had chopped down while they were there (complained to mgmt and maintenance came and trimmed the shrubs and trees waaaaay back). At SSR we have gotten some great views of DTD, this last trip in June it was dead on center on the top floor. At VWL, we got a view that looked out on the leisure pool and even had a little bit of a lake view. At BWV, we had a dead on view of Luna Park.

It's really hard to get a bad view at a DVC resort. Well, maybe the dumpster view at VWL from that one studio isn't the best.
