I'm hoping some of you experienced villa stayers can help me out.

I am looking for web-sites where I can find a villa to hire next Christmas. As I suspect alot of villas will be booked already what I'm really looking for is one where you can send out a general enquiry to all villa owners.

I am familiar with orlandovillas.com and villas4all.co.uk but can anyone recommend any others?

Another one you could try is www.fabvillas.com. We've booked a villa through this website for our trip in April and are very pleased - 5 bed villa on Sunridge Woods for £57 a night!!

we rented at Windsor Hills for Christmas 2006 off VRBO. You can also do a general enquiry for dates required at their website & owners will e-mail you back with availability.

www.thedibb.co.uk has a section where villa owners can advertise so you would be dealing with the owner direct, always a good thing.

If you book your villa privately, where do you get your flights from.

Sorry if its a daft question we've only ever stayed in hotels and booked them as a package.

Depends whether you want charter or scheduled flights. But we use
Expedia or Travelocity or Opodo and book indirect scheduled flights as we find it's cheaper that way. We tend to want to go for 17 or 18 days rather than the standard two weeks, so scheduled can give you more flexibility.

Not a daft question at all - boards like this can help you save a fortune by booking direct.

We book everything through the Royal Bank of Scotland travel service (10%discount).

For our summer holiday we booked a fly-drive through Virgin and for XMas we booked scheduled flights with Continental from Edinburgh.

We found the under-occupancy supplements in the packages worked out more than we were paying for the villas - and there was no guaranteeing a decent villa whilst some of the villas available are awesome.

Even though it's a fly-drive you dont have to pick up the car.

We never pick up the 'free' car with Virgin as it costs more than booking that seperate. With Virgin you have to take the car for 7 days (otherwise it isn't a fly-drive) but that part is free and you dont have to take it for longer or pay the insurance.

Don't worry about the villas being booked up for Christmas already. Last Christmas was busy in Orlando yet remarkably quiet in the short term rental areas. Big problem is too many homes and not enough visitors. They will never be all occupied. Leave it late and you will still get a bargain
