Hi All...
Looking into Villa's & the new animation suites opening up... Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the two?
TIA! :grouphug:

Villas:

Studio - Much like a normal hotel room, but with a bed + pullout sofa instead of 2 beds. Studio villas also have kitchenettes with a sink, microwave, minifridge, etc. and a few dishes and supplies.

1 bedroom and up - These are like condos, really. Besides a living room area and the separate bedroom(s), they will have full kitchens with full size refrigerators, stovetops/ovens, microwaves, etc., and a full supply of dishes and cookware. They also have en suite washers and dryers.

AoA Suites:

I believe these are going to be pretty much like the ASMu family suites, which means a living room area with pull out furniture for extra beds, a kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, etc.), a separate bedroom, and 2 bathrooms.

The villas are considered deluxe resorts and all but Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are actually attached to deluxe resorts. As such, the theming, pools, restaurants and such are better (although I know some value resort lovers will disagree). Depending on what room category you choose, a villa will have either a kitchenette or even a full kitchen, living room, washer and dryer, and whirlpool tub (1 br or 2 br). The Art of Animation is to be considered a value resort so my guess would be that there will a food court and pool, but no sit-down restaurant or pool slide (the values do not have slides, but mods and deluxes do). I do think the theming at Art of Animation looks cool and the themed rooms will be good for kiddos, but personally, I think the suites are too expensive for what is supposed to be a value resort. If you rent DVC points from either an owner on disboards or dvcrequest, my guess would be that a villa may actually be cheaper.

TY both so much for responding so quickly! I really love the idea of a one bedroom villa. Its so hard to find pics of them & now hearing what the differences are its super exciting. I tried looking on renting points but I have no idea how to go about that. TYSM again. :worship::worship:

Pictures: Go HERE and look for the "Disney Vacation Club Resorts" heading in the left sidebar (a little over halfway down the screen). There are links to photo galleries of villa photos :)

Renting is pretty straightforward. First go HERE and figure out how many points you'll need to rent for your dates/resort/villa size. Once armed with that info, hit the Rent/Trade forum to find an owner who is offering enough points for rent to cover your stay. If you're looking to get a villa category/time that's in demand (i.e. Value level villas at AKV or BWV/BCV during October Food and Wine Fest at Epcot), look for someone who actually owns points at the resort you're looking to book at, so that they can have first crack at booking for you at the 11 month mark (owners can't book resorts they don't own at until the 7 month mark, by which time the REALLY in demand villas are hard to come by).

ETA: GET REFERENCES FROM THE OWNER! Look for someone with a history here at the DIS. You are entrusting this person with your money and vacation, so make sure you feel comfortable with that level of risk.
