Villa vs. Separate Reservations

We have a family of 6 going back to Disney and last year we had separate reservations at Caribbean Beach (joined rooms). This was very enjoyable and we had a great time. However, we looking to do something different, really just enjoy Disney through a different resort and maybe find something more accommodating (maybe even financially).

Having a set of grandparents, my wife, myself, and our two children (4 yr and 1 yr), would there be any advantage to staying in a single villa in comparison to separate rooms? I haven't seen any financial advantages in playing with the booking but was curious just hearing some testimonies from some families who have done one or the other or even both.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, you would need a 2br villa...your parents could have the 'master', you could share the 2brQ with your little ones, and then you have a common area to eat, talk, play, etc. We have only stayed at BLT...and it was incredible. Worth any extra $$$. LOVED it.

We have done a 1 bedroom villa at Kidani, and two connecting rooms at All Star Sports. There were definite benefits to both of them. The full kitchen at the one bedroom was AMAZING and awesome to have :) We ordered pop and food from Garden Grocer to have snacks in the room and not have to walk to get a snack if kids needed one at night or breakfast in the room. You could easily do a one bedroom that allows 5 people (plus 1 with your one year old in a pack and play). I believe that is just Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani or Bay Lake Tower (there are many who can tell more about the Villa's then I can, I've only rented from a friend once). Grandparents can have the bedroom with the king bed and the rest of the family in the living room. There was plenty of room at Kidani when the kids bed down. The benefit of two rooms is everyone has a bed. At a one bedroom, someone would be sleeping on Fold out beds, which weren't bad, but some people don't like them. With two connecting rooms you have two sets of beds, and some more space to spread out, but you feel like you're in two rooms, where the villa felt like a condo. :) If I could afford it, we would do a villa again we would need a two bedroom due to the size of our family, but I enjoyed the Villa and have even toyed around with Joining DVC. On a budget though, the Two connecting rooms works out very well, and we enjoyed our week going that route. You can rent Villas for less then a cash reservation from a DVC member, but there are different things with that you need to sort through to see if it is the right move for you.

hope that helped and didn't muddy the waters LOL.
