Looking villa for next year. Probably 12 nights before a on property stay. Will be travelling with two young children.

I ve never done a villa before and picked up a few tips on here and a few recommendations but still find it all a bit daunting. I m not even sure if villas do 12 nights. What's the most important thing you look for in a villa. Is it easy to sort out baby equipment? Do you usually pay extra for anything, as think I read something about pool heating? Do you have to worry about safety and crime?

We've stayed off site at the same villa 3 times with our 2 children as worked well when they were younger. We initially booked through a reputable letting company on line (think it might be vrbo??) then after that dealt direct with the family that owned the villa. We've always gone September time and whilst pool heat isn't essential we prefer a bit of heat so would pay extra for this.
A lot of villas have equipment that you can use such as stair gates and high chairs. When we asked our villa owners if they had a baby monitor they didn't but got their management agent to buy one for the villa!
We have also hired equipment and toys from an online company, which was delivered straight to the villa in a fab condition and this worked really well.
Booking a private villa rather then one owned by companies such as virgin etc generally seems much nicer with a homely feel. On one trip with friends the difference was very apparent between our villas!
We have done different length stays every time and this is always accommodated with no problem. If it's a very short stay there may be a small charge for cleaning.
You've just got to decide on area you like and keep liking until you find something you like-it's personal choice. We like a 2 storey villa with a homely feel and good facilities. We stayed at Highlands reserve community which although not the closest has a great, safe feeling vibe.
happy looking :goodvibes

i know this is a year old thread, but i'll ask anyway :)
do you happen to remember the name of the online company that rents baby equipment and toys?

Hi Beth really sorry but it was about 9 years ago we hired equipment and I can't remember the companies name. I'll have a think and see if anything pops into my brain! :goodvibes

i probably wouldn't remember it from even a few years back!! :)
i was thinking we should try to rent a real crib for the younger toddler - those portacribs leave a lot to be desired.

We re going to try and stick with the travel cot however the person we are renting from said they could sort a proper cot for us if required.

Luckily our villa is meant to have lots of kiddies toys
