Hi, all -

Can't believe I don't know the answer to this after about a million trips to Disney....feeling sheepish!!

Here is the long version of the question, as I am at work and would rather think about Disney than work:

Moved to San Diego this year...LOVE IT HERE, don't get me wrong....but it is a bit far from the Mouse. (Don't try to sell me on DL, we went, it's nice, but it isn't the same!!!) well, my family lives in FL, 2 hours from WDW, and we visit them every Turkey day, which set us thinking about a trip down to the House o' the Mouse. It is too late to rearrange plans for THIS year, but we have decided to add 4 days prior to our trip next year and hit WDW.

Now, if it were just DH and I, we'd book something romantic and be done with it. But I have sisters, one in particular lives in Tampa and is every bit as huge a WDW freak as I am. She will wait until a week before we show up, then announce that she is going to crash in our room.

Love my sis, don't want to stay in the same room as her and her boyfriend.

the last 2 trips, we have avoided this by just sucking it up and booking a 1-bedroom villa. But THOSE trips were all booked a bit last minute, when we lived in Boston, which is - scarily- cheaper than where we live now...our trips from So Cal will require a bit more planning and saving.

We have our AAA card all prepared (though discounts might not be too easy that time of year), and I have the plastico fantastico (aka, Visa card) out and ready to book....now, one little poblem - no villas!! When will they release them????? WHEN???????

We could also book the garden suite at the BWI, but that's an extra $200 a night. Also, tough to enjoy a jacuzzi bath with DH when my baby sister is staying downstairs. Seems excessive.

Thanks, and happy Friday to you all!

DVC members can only book no sooner than 11 mos out...so maybe it's the same for villas booked thru CRO. That timeframe would be for owners @ OKW, non-owners have to wait until 7 mos out. Have you ever rented points? That's a lot less than booking thru CRO.

I have looked at renting points, know it would be much less (we only need 72), but I am very concerned about some of the horror stories I've read!!! Guess I'd rather be a little poorer and just deal with Disney alone than take a chance.....

I am actually thinking about the 1-bd suite thing now...guess I won't be eating out for a while, hmm? :)

I'd bet it is 7 months....well' we'll see.... Thanks.

Since you'd ahve the kitchen you wouldn't have to eat out all the time:) We get the 1-bedroom and eat Breakfast and lunch in the room (we take an afternoon break) and it saves money:)

Maybe I missed the answer here - but how soon can a non-DVC member make a reservation ourselves?

We need to make a 2-bedroom villa res. for December 2008 but either nothing is left or they haven't released the few rooms they have for non-member bookings yet. Just getting a little nervous . . . . .

Sorry, you don't get access to the villas until after the members owning at that resort have the first shot at it. And that is between 7 and 11 months out.

So, look for your Dec 2008 reservation in late May or early June.
