Hiya

Its been a long time since I have had a holiday in a villa,

we are going in a four bed executive villa this september with my brother and his wife and 4 kids.

so I have some qs if thats ok?

Firstly are there usually more than one set of keys? as obviously there are two familys going and we will be going different places.

We requested a cot at the time of booking, but now they are saying if we do want one it will be £70 a week, so would it be better to just get a travel cot?

What kind of kitchen things could there be? microwave etc?

how long before we go do we find out where the villa is? we are going tcd.

this is a sillyquestion but are they as safe as a hotel, are there safes etc?

thanx for any help

Hi,

We have stayed at villas for the past few years but have never booked through TCD.

I don't think you will know the location of the villa until you get there.

Some have safes and some do not, you are not certain to have one.

Villas are safe yes, I have never felt at risk at any I have stayed at, there are some developments that have a mixture of older and newer homes which are not as nice as others - however, I am sure if you have booked through TCD they would only do recently built one's.

Most villas we have stayed at the keys are actually stored in a combination lock type fitting on the outside of the home, you simply key in the required code and remove the keys - so it is unlikely you will actually need to carry any around with you.

As for the cot I guess it depends on whether the travel cot is suitable for the child to sleep in, £70 does seem a bit steep though - sorry cannot really answer that one.

You should get a full kitchen, with oven/hob/fridge/microwave/pots/pans/plates ..everything really.

You can ask for a second set of keys I should imagine but you may find there's a deposit on them .Travel cots are around $70-$80 so good value but you will have to break into your time to buy one and then decide what to do with it afterwards .Most villas have a fully fitted kitchen with full cooker microwave ,dishwasher, fridge /freezer etc. Can't help with the last question as I have never had a TCD home.
Homes are as safe as anywhere else -ther provision of a safe depends on the owners but if there isn't one don't worry find a hiding place there will be areas in the home you can put things.

you will be given directions to pick up your keys only one set but you have to register the next morning so can ask for another set for a small deposit. tcd villas are allocated on arrival so you don't know till you get there. with regards to the cot i'd say it's cheaper to buy one either here and put it on with your luggage or buy one once you get to the states it still works out cheaper than tcd prices, hope this helps, safes if your villas dosen't have one you again can request one from the mangement company i'm sure they will be able to help

I believe for a price you can choose where you want your villa to be.(i don't know what they charge though)Otherwise you don't find out where your villa is until you land.

We have only had 1 set of keys that were in a combination lock on the door handle.Unfortunatly they took he lock off after the first day so we couldn't use it when we were going out.I'm sure you must be able to get 2 sets though.

The kitchen was fully equiped with nearly everything you would need, including a microwave.

There was a safe fastend to the floor in one of the rooms.Ours worked to well though and wouldn't let us back in it after we had put all our stuff in. :rotfl: We had to call someone out from the villa management company.

Cant answer the cot question but £70 is alot of money and if the child was young enough i would be tempted to buy a cheap travel cot.
