I never thought I would be excited to stay at the GF but I am excited now to try it next year. Our plan was the poly but don't want to risk construction issues while there. I love the look of AKV but want monorail one more trip.

So I am debating between a studio at the villas or a standard room?

My only reason for not booking the villa would be because I am renting points and I am unsure if I want to book and then not be able to cancel if something comes up?! However the price is less than half when renting points :confused3

What would everyone suggest?

I'm always a cost person. If it costs less to rent the points and get a bigger room I'd say it's a no brainer. I'd solidify your plans and book it.

We are debating between a studio and a standard room so space isn't really a factor more so price. I am worried I won't get a studio if I don't book at 11 months out but then what if life happens and we can't go those dates?

What is main difference between villa and standard room?

The main difference would be a villa studio will have 1 queens size bed, 1 fold out sleeper sofa and there will be a fold out bed in the TV stand. So depending on whose going that may effect everyone's comfort level. I would do the villa studio if it was just DH and I going but if having a more comfortable 2nd bed is important I would consider a std room at GF.

It will be me, DH and our three kids (5,7 and 2). If we go one bedroom I am thinking BLT might be better than GF for MK proximity.

I'm a long time DVC owner and I've posted on your threads about this before. A studio loses most of it's room once you open the sleeper sofa. We never stay in a studio if we need to use that sleeper. We either rent a larger villa or we stay in a regular hotel room that has 2 beds. You have to move the coffee table and there's a table and 2 chairs that will be at the end of the sleeper and it's difficult to get around it and onto the balcony.

The difference between the studio and a regular hotel room will be the two beds vs bed/sleeper. Also, the studio bathroom will have one sink as opposed to two in the hotel room. The studio will have a kitchenette where the hotel room will have just the refridgerator. The hotel room will have more drawer space for folded clothes. There are minor other differences but this is the biggest.

Also, when renting points, you will not have daily housekeeping. No trash emptied. No fresh towels. No coming back to freshly made beds unless you make them yourself before you leave.

I wouldn't count on being able to book on points at a brand new resort at the 11 month mark. I'm not sure new GFV owners are going to be renting their points out so soon. You may get lucky but I wouldn't count on it. It's going to be a free for all at the 7 month mark when all of the rest of us will be wanting to try it out. :rotfl:

We stayed at GF in a standard GV view Sago Cay Building a few years ago. Although the GF Studios look very nice, I would rather stay in the Standard GV room if the 1 Bdr Villa is not an option. There is more space. BLT would be a great option if you want to walk to MK, but GF is only one monorail stop away and there is the boat. So many choices! Good luck with your decision!:goodvibes
