Hi All,

We have our holiday booked, fly out 10th August - 5 nights with free dining at Old Key West in 1BR, then 7 nights on the Magic and back to Orlando for 5 nights in a villa on the Highgrove development. Or so we thought.

This morning the villa owner contacted me to say that the management company has told them they need to do 10 day maintenance during August and she is cancelling our booking. Their availability calender shows no bookings from when we leave (27th Aug) through to end of Sept so I have politely suggested that rather than cancel a booking she ask the management company to do their maintenance work when the villa is unoccupied.

However, cynical though I am I have a horrible feeling that perhaps she has had an offer for a longer booking or wants to use it herself and is just making up an excuse....

WSo if I get bumped from my villa can anyone suggest a good place to look for a 5 night villa stay 22nd - 27th August. We were paying £80 a night so total £400 - would like to stay as close to this budget as poss.

We were looking forward to the space, own pool etc so a villa really is the preferred option.

Thanks in advance
Mel

That is so poor. Surley if you have a booking they are expected to honour it in the same way you are. They should be named and shamed.

what I would suggest is going onto this site

http://www.onlinefloridavillas.com/

and select the amount of bedrooms you are looking for. When the list comes up choose one (it doesnt even have to be one you particularly like at this stage) and fill in the details at the bottom to send an enquiry to the villa owner. Then make sure you put the tick in the box that says "send enquiry to other 'x' bed villa owners"

You will then get emails from any owners that have availability for you dates, normally along with prices as well - this will save you a lot of trawling the net.

Hope this helps and you manage to get sorted.

Hi Mel,

I have sent you a PM, with details of the villa we stayed in this April. I know it's available for your dates so hope it is of use, the owner's will definitely offer a decent price should you mention my name.

If you need more villa options please let me know.

That is terrible, I can't believe that they are cancelling on you. I do hope that you get it sorted, if you need any more recommendations please PM me I would be happy to send you some, we have stayed in a lot of villas!

Just a quick update:

Both the Dis boards and the Dibb are fab. I put out several enquiries the day I found out my villa was cancelled and received loads of PM's and help.

I booked with the first one which came back to me with availability and was able to answer my questions about baby equipment. I think from my checking the villa owner is a Dis member and I have seen a trip report from someone who stayed there.

Anyway, thanks to those who PM'd me, It was so nice that people wanted to help. I also now have a selection of other villas to try on future holidays :)

Thank you again
Mel

PS Forgot to say, in my trawling the net looking for villas i discovered that the one I was supposed to stay in is up for sale - perhaps they think a sale is imminant. Who knows, I am just glad I now have somewhere to stay!

So glad you got sorted.

Now you can relax and enjoy planning the rest of the holiday.
