Villa ? again (sorry)

Im being a pain again !
We are looking into going bk to florida and because of various medical and family reasons we need to stick with the villa option. I am now really quite suspicious after our last nightmare with getting our seecurity deposit returned so Im wondering how others ensure that the villa they rent off a wbsite is going to be there when they get there and also if there have been any issues with the owners and previous renters??

hi I was told that you can check the tax data for a villa to find out if the taxes are paid up tp date as this is quite a lot of money in florida, and is an indication of finance trouble, this site also lets you see who owns the villa and for how long they have had it. About the problem with the deposit, I have never had that happen to me ....yet and dread the day it does. I can dig out that web info and post back if you want it.

These are the sites for Osceola and Lake Counties.Check the Tax collector site on each of them and look for any warning signs.Property taxes are due now for the year so on the ball owners will have paid to get the allowed discount .
Look at listing sites that verify the owners for you .There are some that ensure their owners do it every 6 months and if they fail their home is not listed .

Problems with previous gusts is not so easy but sometimes a search for the name of the owner or the home brings up results as there are websites you can complain about your holidays etc.

Getting your security back -
Make sure if there is something wrong at the beginning of your stay it is reported to the man co maybe even take timed and dated pictures.Report anything major that get broken /damaged during your stay -most owners don't worry about a broken glass - it is nice to know if it happens but not chargeable by most people.

Take time to build a relationship with the owner and don't be worried about asking any amount of questions -any owner worth their salt will answer the same question 10 times .

Thanks guys ! I finally plucked up the courage to phone the owner and ask loads of questions and hewas fab so I defo think ive prob not got anything to worry about!! I have all thedetails i need now to check the taxes but they seemed fab and he even said his wife is a barrister !!
