Hi! This is my first post because I found your forum while searching for user reviews on Viggle. I also got tired of trying to be logical on the SD forums and figured you all were nice.
I've found a few tricks that I've picked up. I know some of these may have already been discussed, but I haven't had a chance to go through the entire thread. I may not listen to the ads, really, but at least I let them run. I don't use the app much during the day because it eats your data plan up so fast. I wait until I get home and sign on our wi-fi.
During the primetime schedule, I look at the shows that are available for extra points during an hour slot. As long as you are checked into a show for a minimum of 10 minutes, you get at least 20 points (2 x 10) plus the bonus. You can realistically check into 5 shows max in an hour to get the bonus points. You can manually check into a show that is currently airing. I usually do this during the day for long running shows like baseball games or news shows. It will run in the background even if you don't have the app open. It's a quick way to get a few hundred points during a down time.
A lot of the shows re-air during the evening, so you can always check in at a different hour if you aren't able to get to them all tonight. I check into the highest bonus point shows first. For example, this was my check in schedule tonight:
7 p.m.: giuliana and bill (the only one in that time slot that I could find...which was fine, I let my check in run the full hour while I made dinner.
8:00 p.m.: Real Housewives
(I then look at my check-in history and it will show how many minutes ago I checked in...when it says 10 or 11 minute, then I start to check in the next show)
8:11: Ringer (not exactly at that minute, but an example of how I wait until a little after the 10 minute mark, and count for the seconds that add up while the app checks you in, just to be sure I got the full 10 minutes).
Then I let the check in run for 10 or so minutes.
8:22: Top Gear
(i let this one run for the rest of the hour because of other stuff I had to do)
9:00: Justified
9:11: Storage Wars
9:22: body of proof
9:33: Let's stay together
9:44: Tabatha (again, let this run the rest of the hour)
10:00 Giuliana and Bill re-air (I *think* it awards you the bonus points again, but I'm not entirely sure...I hadn't kept up with the points tonight like I usually do)
10:11 Best Ink (re-air from previous hour)
10:22 Tosh.0
10:33 real housewives (re-air)
10:44 Justified (re-air)
Then, in my time zone (central) at 11 p.m. is the re-set, where the points from the day stop accumulating and start over.
Then, after the bonus shows have stopped for the evening, I will check into something like Cspan when I go to bed, and it will run for a few hours. When I get up in the morning, I usually have around 3 or 400 points to start with. I don't worry about keeping up with it down to the minute/point.
Although, I do keep up with it somewhat, especially when I'm attempting to reach a goal. Right now, I'm working toward my 5th
best buy card to give to my husband for his birthday. In my notepad, I make a note with the points I have at 11 p.m., then add 12000 to it (the max) and put that down a few lines. Then throughout the day I'll just make an addition below my starting points of where I'm at as the day progresses. It's easy to see how they add up and how much further I have to go if my ultimate goal that day is to get 12000 total.
I hope that helps someone, and makes sense to anyone else but me!
