OK- I am trying to determine what to ask for--I am thinking about reserving a 2 bedroom.

Standard view- cheaper view- see parking lot?

Whats the difference between preferred and boardwalk view? If I want to see the fireworks, which would be the best to ask for?

Thanks,
Jacky

If you want to see the fireworks, you're best bet is to get a Boardwalk view. All of the BW View rooms have a view of Illuminations and usually the high ones from Wishes also. Only a few of the standard view rooms have a view of some of the fireworks from Illuminations or Fantasmic.

If you are going to pay the points, get a confirmed Boardwalk view. But if you don't want to use extra points, standard rooms are great. In many of the upper floor rooms you can see fireworks from EPCOT nicely. Most of the rooms overlook the driveway up to the front entrance. We used to always get a standard view room up until the Boardwalk view became guranteed. Our first experience with that is coming up in a few weeks.

This is the view we had of Illuminations from our top floor Standard View room this past summer:

Just a few of the fireworks make it over the top of the BWI building.

We had a similar experience with our BWV - saw very few actual fireworks - only the high ones, and most of them were blocked by ESPN.

If you want to see fireworks, go into the parks.

One of the things I loved about the Contemporary was being able to see the fireworks from our room. I guess in DVC there is nothing comparable? I had thought I could see the fireworks from the BWV.

It sounds like its not really worth the points for the views?

What does preferred view overlook?

I appreciate the help of this forum.

thanks

I will tell you in a few weeks after I have a BW view about whether it's worth the points. I think it might be but I have always stayed standard view before this trip. Preferred view (not boardwalk view) could overlook MGM, the canal, or one of the pools.

We LOVE boardwalk view. Our Oct. trip was on a low floor (2nd) and we could still see the Epcot fireworks perfectly every night, and a few MK ones as well. While the best fireworks views are certainly in the parks, there is something about a lovely evening on your BWV balcony, an illuminated Spaceship Earth, the activity of the Boardwalk and then the fireworks, that has us hooked. We're willing to pay the extra points. JMHO, YMMV.

We have not yet had the Boardwalk view, but have had the preferred view a few times (before the Boardwalk view was available).

IMO, the Standard views are not that bad, and I would rather spend less points per night and have a longer stay than spend the extra points for a better view and have to leave earlier. ::yes::

We are at a crossroads right now but I need some advice. We are curretnly booked at BCV for three nights in Feb and I have been reading the boards and feeling anxious about staying there. (there are some really bad reports out there) We have never stayed DVC and I am hoping to buy into it so I want DH and my parents to have a really positive experience. We found out recently that Stormalong Bay will be closed while we are there (sections anyway) and so now I am really dissappointed. SOOO Our renter called and confirmed that there are studios available for Preferred at the BWV so should we change? When you say a guaranteed Boardwalk view, how do you get that and is it more points than the preferred?

Anybody have some good reasons to stay with BCV?? Thanks so much! I am going to try and find a renter for my parents to come two nights so I have to decide where we are staying first!! Any comments welcome.

The guaranteed Boardwalk view is not more points. There are two separate reservation categories for Preferreed view at BWV. One is the Boardwalk view and the other is Poll/Garden view. Both cost the same number of points. That said, the Boardwalk view rooms do tend to book up right at the 11 month window. While it is possible that the Boardwalk view is available for your February 2005 dates, it isn't very likely. IMHO, there are some very nice Pool/garden views, though.

Haven't stayed at BCV so can't help you with this.

Best wishes -

BCV and VWL both have the same point structure as BWV preferred views. If you think that BCVs/VWL are priced too high, than yes. I think that SV rooms are a real bargain. And the BW View that is guarenteed is a "something for nothing" deal. Except there isn't a "nothing" -- the nothing is reserving the room early - something you have a better chance of doing if you own BWV and pay their higher dues.
