We are visiting the week of October 17th and on the 18th had planned a day at MK. This being my first time to Disney I thought that was appropriate! lol But now I have an issue....

I want our first day to be very memorable (although I dont see how it cant be!) so I was thinking about dinner reservations at the California Grill overlooking MK during the fireworks. But then I got to thinking maybe it would be best to view the fireworks the first time in the park?

What do you experts think?

We completely understand where you are coming from. But your right. How can being at WDW not be memorable? It can't. You will be full of memories. But remember you will not be able to see and do everything you want to do. Trust us we tried. Hence another trip back this December.

But to answer your question about Wishes. Yes you can have a great time from the CG, but if I were you, I would be right there on Main Stree USA being in complete Awww and seeing Tink fly and the fireworks and the colors.

I hope this helps.

For the first time, you absolutely have to be on Main St in the MK. The music is a huge part of the show. Plus getting to see Tink fly will make it even more special.

Another vote for MK. Nothing like "feeling" those fireworks in your chest being right there on Main Street. :cloud9: Does anyone else know what I mean?

The best view is on Main Street in front of the Castle, anything else, you do not get the full affects, IMHO.

We came back a couple of weeks ago. We saw it 5 times and it brought tears to my eyes every time. Still does just to hear the music CD we bought. I think for the first time you should definitely watch it from MK, but I would say go to CG later o in your trip, we had an awesome meal there and watching wishes from the roof of the CR with my new husband (it was our honeymoon) was totally amazing and romantic.

Watch them for the first time in front of the castle!! Talk about feeling the magic!!! Try to stand over on the bridge to tomorrowland where it meets the circle in front of the castle, and you will have Tinkerbelle fly right over you!! I just cant wait 86 more days!!!!:hyper:

Ooops... You want to stand on the bridge closest to the castle that is on the right when you are facing the castle. Thats NOT the tomorrowland bridge. Sorry!!

Got to put in another vote for watching Wishes from MK....there is nothing to compare to standing in front of the castle and watching this incredible show. However, as others have said you should still have dinner at CG our meal there was great and the view outstanding.

I am hoping to be able to see Wishes on Saturday evening, if Frances cooperates  for the very first time.

I have a MK Fireworks Cruise through Magical Gatherings planned to watch it the next night...has anyone done this?

Is this a good way to watch it? If we don't see it first on MStreet on Saturday night, will we be disappointed from seeing it from the boat?

Sounds like viewing from MK is definitely the way to go.

Now we have another unexpected, but good, decision to make.

Last night I decided to go ahead and book a room at the Pop Century for our first day in Orlando, the travel day of October 17th. Since we wouldnt get in till around 4pm we were thinking of staying outside the park but when the new codes came out I decided to just stay on-site for the entire length! So, here's the issue. Do we get a PS for California Grill that first night and try to watch the fireworks or "save" that for our first night of actually being in the park? LOL I know its sounds crazy but these are the fun decisions to make!

That first evening I really want to spend the time going from resort to resort and see what each looks like. Its free and something we would enjoy especially since this is my first trip and her first time staying on-site.

Thanks for the replies, you guys are great!
