Viewing Spectro At End Less Crowded?

I am just wondering if there is any place where you can get a decent view of Spectromagic and only arrive 10 minutes before showtime. Does the crowd thin a bit towards the end of the parade route, or is it generally equally crowded throughout? I am going the first week of May.

Well, if there's only 1 Spectro that night it's going to be VERY hard to get a decent spot 10 minutes beforehand (even at the end of the parade). This is because everyone will be going to the same parade. Now if there are 2 Spectros, go to the 2nd one! You can easily find a spot for Spectro just about anywhere with 10-20 minutes left. Although when I was there in January, I was able to get a spot in front of the Barber Shop on Main Street with about 30-40 minutes before parade time. So it depends.

We were there in December of 2004 (early dec.). My mind got the time wrong and we ended up getting there about 15 minutes before the parade. We started walking the parade route and got a good spot on the curb (in front of a garbage can) way down. So it is possible.

I was there last month by myself (on a business trip) and I stood on the opposite side of the hub by the Adventureland walkway, it was pretty empty. I could see it pretty good and hear the music (the best part). Not the best for little kids but if you are a repeat visitor it's a nice last minute spot.

Just DONT try & squeeze your way in, especially in front of people who got there early & have been waiting.

And remember kids are short, so dont over look them, if you think you found a good last minute spot.

Usually if there is only 1 show a night, it is kind of hard to get a spot that late. People start waiting pretty early.

However the second show is usually pretty thin.

We went to the second parade last week & it was great. We got a spot right over the bridge in Liberty Square. There was hardly anyone there. It was great!

Would never try and squeeze in front of someone - I consider linecutting to be morally depraved. Thanks for all the info everyone - sounds like we will need to plan to arrive plenty early to find a spot. M

We have always had the best luck and seen far fewer crowds around Frontierland as opposed to being out in the mix of Main Street and the hub. A great place to get is on the little board walk that runs parallel to the main walkway through Frontierland and Liberty Square...there are even benches there that you can stand on to see over the crowds in front of you plus you are out of the main crowd which is nice. :wave2:

Best spot we have found is right at the beginning of the parade. The CM's there let the kids play in the street even after they put the ropes up, until a few mintues before the show. Also, you are one of the first that can leave after the floats go through. Not to mention it is close to the bathrooms, and plenty of room behind you, so you can do waht we did (move back a bit to let small children in front of us.

I was at WDW first week of May last year and we watched Spectro from Frontierland and it was great!

There was only one Spectro that night at 9pm, we got to Frontierland to get seats at 8pm, but it really wasn't that crowded so we walked over to Splash Mountain....there was NO line. There was also NO line at BTMRR! We rode both rides twice...didn't even have to get off on BTMRR, just went again...and then we went to Pecos Bill's and got burgers and STILL found good seats! Now there were only two of us, so that made getting a spot easier, and we absolutely didn't cut or squish in. If you are a family of four or more it might be a little harder, but really we had no problems. We were just sitting down outside the gift shop next to Pecos Bill's when we saw the first signs of the parade coming down the street.

Don't forget, if the parade starts at 9pm, it ends up in Frontierland last, so you've got some time to find a seat even just right before 9pm. I don't think it really hits Frontierland til like 9:15pm.

Don't know if this plan would work in the summer or during a peak time, but for the 1st week of May it worked out great for us.
