I have stayed many places where the room charges can be viewed on your TV.
Based on what I've seen in other threads and due to my own need for corrections to the bill. (Last trip I requested one midstay and never recieved it and also didn't get one before checkout on the last day!) I am curious if Disney has any plans to implement this type of system or if it is already available at some resorts. Heck is it available at the Values and I just don't know it?
Imagine if you could try to book reservations and acitivities through your TV like at many resorts and on cruise ships. I love Disney but they really seem to fall behind in this area. Is that because I stay at Values? I have found this featue at many "value type" hotels.
I know mistakes can happen, and that there are often long lines at checkout to correct these mistakes... imagine the customer satisfaction level if they were caught and taken care of before the last day, let's face it, the bill is the last thing you want to deal with and if you wait and there is a mistake, it's the last memory of you stay.
Anyone got the scoop?

I know there are "plans" for WDW having an interactive TV system, and quite frankly I'm surprised it isn't there already. I think maybe part of the hold up could be that Disney deals with so much technology that they would want to be able to use it for things like booking ADRs, getting fastpasses, showing current ride wait times, being able to view and order photopass pictures. And of course be able to view your bill. Really the possibilities seem to be endless. I hope that they get something going soon.

We stay at the Swan and you can view your bill on the tv and even checkout, I love it:cool1:

I check it daily for any discrepancies. So much better than having to wait for the final bill and then going over everything for any errors. This way if there is something wrong you can handle it the next day. I have found them very accurate and it gives you total breakdown for each charge which is great.

intersting that you can do this at the swan... thanks for the info
I don't fully understand the distinction, but I am told it is on property but not a Disney Hotel... the Dolphin also...
Anyone know of a disney hotel that has this feature/benefit?

The S/D has had this feature for years and I love it.

We love the Swan, not Disney owned but you would never know it with YC, BC and BW all there and just being able to walk to Epcot nd MGM or take the boat if you don't want to walk.

Perfect location! We won't stay anywhere else.:cheer2:

I could be wrong, but I believe that your room key from the Swan/Dolphin cannot be used for charging privelages in the WDW parks like you can when staying at a Disney resort. And if that is the case, then I don't see a huge benefit there. Because other than the room cost and room service or a restaurant at the hotel, what else would be on there? What gets me at the end of the trip is when I see what I've been spending each day in the parks. Yikes!

we have been able to do the free dining once and will again this year.. if staying at the swan or dolphin can you take advantage of special offers such as this one and room discounts?

I don't believe you can do the Disney Dining Plan at the Swan & Dolphin. After checking out some info on Mousesavers.com, it looks like you also cannot use Magical Express at S/D, but the resorts are part of the bus transportation system. Also, you do get access to Extra Magic Hours. And I confirmed that you can't use your room key for charging around WDW. So you get some of the same perks at S/D but not all of them.

I think Disney has stayed away from this for years because it takes away interaction with a PERSON. Disney has always focused on guest-CM relations, and I think they feel that this type of thing makes just one more thing "faceless". I'm sure they'll implement it eventually, but I think they don't want to necessarily lose that person to person contact that they have going now.

No interactive account viewing on TVs at Disney resorts. We just got back yesterday. Half way through our trip we requested a detail of our account from the front desk with no problem. And then yesterday morning they had slipped our account summary under the hotel room door for us so we didn't have to bother with checking out at the front desk -- awesome!

The S/D do not participate in the free dining but that doesn't bother me. We visit friends and also do Universal and SeaWorld while there so I don't want to commit myself to eating on Disney property everyday.

As BrianD mentioned, you can't charge purchases from the parks on your room key but that doesn't bother me anyway because I have the Disney Visa card and prefer to use that separately to get discounts and to get the points. However, you can make purchases in the parks and also Downtown and they will deliver it to the hotel gift shop which is very important to me.

I like seeing my charges on the tv because I can check it everyday at my own leisure and to correct any possible discrepancies which I've never had to do.
