Hi dh and I are hoping to book VWL for our 10th anniversary in January but I've never been there so I don't know what requests I should make when I make my reservation. We will be getting a studio but what are my options for views, etc. and what do people like best. Any opinions are welcome! I'm so excited I convinced dh to go for the annual passes for our Oct 05 trip to SSR and then go back again for our 10th in January with no kids!!

Thanks!

Amy

The views at VWL are all pretty much the same....trees! Here's a satellite photo of Wilderness Lodge (green roof) and VWL (red roof).

I hope dkellumw doesn't mind that I stole that link!

Some people like the pool view rooms, but there are very few of those so don't be disappointed if you ask for them and aren't able to get them.

Personally I prefer the lake/pool side of the resort. By asking for anything on that side of the resort, you will avoid any dumpster views, or bus station views.
Since I request half of the building, this also gives the room assignor a lot to work with.

That being said, there is also something nice about tall grasses on the other side of the resort.

Good luck!... :drinking:

If you ask for lake side/pool view at the VWL for a studio, be sure to request a balcony or patio (1st floor). There is one studio that is a fluke - it has no balcony (it's a lockoff). It's 4533 and it's on the 4th floor. It's okay if you're using it as a 2 bedroom, as the living room would have a balcony. But, if you get it just as a lock-off studio, you won't get a balcony. My parents got this studio our first trip as DVC members (we treated them).
