Silly question. I know you can take a boat from the Wilderness to MK so just how close are they? I was looking at pictures and saw a beach at Wilderness - can you sit there (or anywhere) and see Wishes? Thanks!

You can not see Wishes from the Beach, because you are facing the wrong way. You can see some of Wishes over the trees from certain rooms on the top floors and from the parking lot.

Actually you can see high fireworks at MK from the beach at WL/VWL.

Sammie, you must have yourself turned around.....

We've watched Wishes from the beach. Its a better view than watching Illuminations from many of the Boardwalk View rooms at the Boardwalk because Wishes happens high. The trees on the point and the Contemporary are between you and the MK.

Those are some great photos! Thanks, I now have a new phone wallpaper!

Awesome! I've never been to Wilderness before (we're wait-listed for November) and I so hope we get a room there! I've been reading the threads on it but didn't see anything regarding the fireworks. I'm so glad I asked!!

Were there a lot of people on the beach watching? Is the beach by the main lodge?

The beach is near both the main lodge and VWL villas. Actually a little closer to VWL's lobby than WL lobby.

I've never seen a lot of people on the beach watching fireworks. As Kat said, it really is the higher fireworks that get captured. I don't know that I'd make a trip to the beach just to view them.

On the other hand, the Electric Water Pageant comes right in front of the beach and that's worth sitting down and viewing at least once. :)

There were probably 50-75 people there to watch them the night we were there. Surprised me since there were more people than when we watched them from the Poly beach a few years before.

BLT wasn't finished yet, so I don't know how much of the fireworks are blocked by that building.

I love watching Wishes and the water pageant from the comfort of a lounge chair on the beach at VWL. As you can see from KAT4Disney's beautiful photos you get a pretty good view from there. Too bad they don't pipe in the music! We've done it a couple of times. There were about 20-30 people there each time so we were glad we got down there early enough to get lounge chairs.

Thanks! Glad you liked them.

Whenever I've gone down I'd say it was around the 20-30 ppl that Lisa mentioned. Sometimes less. I like it when the timing works out so you can catch the fireworks and the EWP. :thumbsup2

That's how we ended up seeing the fireworks from the beach the first time. We went down there for the water pageant which passes by at 9:30-ish if I remember correctly. We were surprised to discover we could see the MK fireworks from that spot too! I think it was a MVMCP night at the MK because the fireworks started up while the water pageant was passing by.

In addition to the fireworks, you got great shots of BLT too!

crisi...I stand corrected by you and others. I hadn't seen a large group like that down at the beach watching fireworks. But then again, I didn't go down to the beach every night either.

Kat...I forgot to mention that I really like those photos especially with the water reflections of the fireworks. :thumbsup2

Yes, superb pics! Reminds me of walking out to the beach after a fine meal at Artist Point, finding a beach chair, then watching the higher fireworks, as well as the EWP. Great memories!

Nice pics! What's your secret? Fast shutter speed? Tripod? Both? I ask because when ever I try to take pics of fireworks they come out very blurry.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on the pictures! :goodvibes

Thank you! I actually had meant to go back with a tripod on another night since these were all taken hand held. Normally I would shoot with a tripod in manual mode (I have a DSLR) and have a longer shutter speed - several seconds would be my preference. Tripods are by far the best help for any camera with firework shots.

For these pictures I set my shutter speed to as long as I dared that I could expect to not get blur with hand holding. I like that rather than a short shutter speed so that you can get more trails of the fireworks. But to try and prevent blur the speed has a limit. It probably should have been a little shorter though so it would be even clearer. Then, it was also timing for the largest fireworks bursts to show up the best since the speed would be relatively short.
