I would love, love, love to stay at the GC. Can someone please tell me the differences in the views? Is it worth it to upgrade to Theme Park view? What are you looking at? Also, if you get a Park or DD view, is it noisy?

It's worth it if the view is important to you. We have stayed in park view rooms twice-1st time my husband and I chose it cause we wanted a great view since we had 2 days without park tickets so we figured we'd immerse ourselves in the atmosphere from the balcony. We had a great view of Grizzly River Run and loved sitting on the balcony watching people ride, etc. Also got a great photo of a hummingbird who joined us on the balcony. 2nd time we booked standard view but got a park view room as a free upgrade. It was okay, but I would not have paid park view for that room. It was in the corner of the resort so while yes, we saw the park, we mostly saw trees, the other wing of the building, and the monorail.

We didn't have any problems with noise either time. Also, CA closed by 10pm every night of our trip so even if it had been loud the noise would have ended fairly early, at least not to wake us up at night that is.

We're going back on Saturday and booked park view again. This time we did it cause we have a 2yo who never adjusted to the time change in DL at 6 months old nor in Hawaii at 20 months. Based on that, we figure she'll be ready for bed by about 6pm every night so we'll be spending lots of time in the room. We thought about doing DD view instead but thought we'd spend the extra on park view instead.

BTW, aside from looking at the GRR, Soarin', etc. area of the park, you can be overlooking the pool area and the Paradise Pier area as well. At least I'm pretty sure that's park view.

We have stayed at the GC in several rooms: DTown Dis view, Concierge park view, standard room park view. Out of all of them, I preferred the DTown Dis view. We really enjoyed looking over the peaceful Downtown in the morning as we ate breakfast. We also really loved sitting on the patio after the kids went to sleep to listen to the music and watch all the people after the park was closed. Just my opinion, but my hubby agrees. We are going back to the GC on the 14th of this month, and we booked a downtown view.

We have stayed at both and have differing opinions. I liked the park view only because I thought it was exciting seeing all of the people enjoying themselves whereas DW preferred the DD view because of the fireworks...

So does "Standard" view include the DD view? We had a room adjacent (above) the WOD Store and really liked it. The first time we stayed there, we got upgraded to a park view - not sure I'd be willing to pay for the view though. We're booked for a standard view for June, but don't want to look out over a parking lot! We've had the Monorail courtyard view and that was nice - very quiet & peaceful.

DD view is its own category, so no, not part of standard view.

We booked a theme park view for our vacation. What room or wing should I request so as not to be looking at "trees" or pool views. I'd hate to have to view trees outside my window when the theme park view cost a pretty penny. KWIM?

We just returned from a trip to DL. We stayed in a standard "courtyard" view room on the 5th floor at the Grand Californian. I was in the hotel with the baby the two weekend nights we were there. I was able to see the "top" of the fireworks display from DL on those two nights. I would have loved to be in a room that was able to see more of the show. Next time I stay in the GC, I'll be more inquisitive about the view I'm getting.

Just my opinion (of course :p ), but we had a "courtyard" view and the monorial went by us, but I thought it was a rip-off. Did not enjoy it. Then we stayed in a DTD view room and loved it so much, we stayed there again! For a CA Adventure view room, we prefer the PP as the price is about half of GC and the views are wonderful. Anyway, it depends on what you want. We love people watching and listening to the music of DTD. Good luck deciding :)
