Vienen mis amigos a la Coronado Springs --- A September 2014 Pre-Trip Report

I’m very happy you decided to come read my report. I don’t know if Kali and Victoria will ever be friends again. It’s so, so sad. I think about it often as I am currently scrapbooking our trip in March with Kali. It’s hard to see pictures where the two of them looked happy. Ugh. Victoria texted me today to say that she actually saw Kali for the first time today in school. Of course neither of them said a word. Victoria said that Kali looked sad. Who knows why……oh well. Such is the life of a teen! Thank you again for the compliments on my shirts. I cannot wait to stay at CSR!! The only thing I’ve read that’s kind of confusing is how the Pepper Market works. From what I understand you pick up your food and go sit down and pay for it afterwards. Was it like that the last time you were there? I like the idea as your food doesn’t get cold and you don’t have to fumble around with your tray and money, etc.

Yes, that is how the Pepper Market has always worked. If you are on the dining plan (I don't recall if you were), it is a great deal. We have always liked that you pay after because, as you said, the food stays warm and you aren't fumbling. They offer many options (including Mexican) and the desserts are heavenly.

Yay for getting all of your printing done!!! :cool1: I love those self-laminating sheets you can buy at the office stores. That way, I don’t worry about not having a laminating machine. Hey, maybe we will run into each other in MK. Just look for my LGMH and please don’t be afraid to approach me. I’m very friendly!! :yay: Yay, we are almost anniversary twins! Great minds think alike! My wedding was on the beach in Old Orchard Beach here in Maine. Perfect weather!!

That’s me, Rachel…..wearing an accessory made for a 4 year old!! LOL!!!!!:lmao:

Yea the self laminating sheets are good and I used to use those until two of my sisters brought laminating machines so now I borrow theirs or go to either house and use them.

Maybe it would be cool to run into fellow DISers! I am shy by nature so I might be quiet/embarrassed at the beginning. Like wise say hi if you see me.

Sounds beautiful! My Dad married us, he was a pastor at one time, at the church I grew up in.

I say Go for it! I wish I had the confindiance to do things like that; I am always worried what others will thing of me which is something I am working on. By the way tho, I have already had to get my glue gun out twice to fix the flowers on it, they come off easy, at least on hers.

So, I really thought I would have nothing much to post on the PTR during my last week prior to the trip. Yep, only 7 more days! It’s getting real now…..like it wasn’t before?? Right! Yep, just thought I was going along quietly waiting for the days to tick down….tick tock, tick tock, tick tock….:hourglass

CRASH!!

I drive into the driveway on Saturday afternoon after going to pick up some chicken supplies (it’s all about my chickens, I know!!) when I see Victoria helping Peter to walk….um, WTH??? (although my big ole potty mouth said something different). At first I thought they were kidding as they know the trip is only days away and surely Peter didn’t actually hurt himself THIS close to the trip, right? Then Victoria goes “Guess what Peter did!!” Oh yes, the little informant!! ::yes:: Apparently my wonderful husband fell off of a 14 foot ladder onto his foot while putting up roof rafters in the new car shed he’s building. OMG!!! OMG!!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Now, of course my first thought was my husband’s foot but in a close second was “what the heck are we going to do about Disney??!!!” My mind was racing with all kinds of thoughts like postponing the trip, renting ECV or wheelchair….just so much. We must first find out how his foot is and if anything was broken. Good thing is that we already had crutches from my bouts with an arthritic knee. See, a positive right there!! :thumbsup2

Off to the hospital we went. All three of us. Victoria and I are plenty used to hospital visits, so it doesn’t freak her out at all. The ER wasn’t all that busy (the crazy drunk people haven’t shown up yet…LOL:lmao:) but it still took 3 hours for us to be seen. Ugh!!! Good news ---- nothing is broken :bitelip: …….Bad news ----- doctor doesn’t recommend Peter try to walk in Disney:sad:. His foot is a lovely shade of blue and he cannot put any weight on it. It’s not the ankle at all that hurts, it’s the arch and heel of his foot. I played nurse for the entire weekend with icing, Tylenol, and catering to him. He doesn’t believe in taking meds for pain, so it’s just Tylenol for him. He did go to work today but he can have his crew do the manual labor……he can sit at his desk with his foot up. I did wrap it in an ace bandage to keep it immobile. :crutches: (OH LOOK --- SMILIES I NEVER THOUGHT I'D USE!)

I told him we can postpone the trip…..we’d lose money (I haven’t looked into that) but it doesn’t matter as I want him to feel well and enjoy himself. He absolutely refused and said we are going. Ok, so next two options would be to bring a wheelchair or to rent a scooter :moped:, but he doesn’t want me to look into either of those options unless absolutely necessary. He wants to wait until next Monday to see how the foot feels. This does NOT sit well with an uber planner!!! What if the scooter rental places are all booked up? What if they cost 50 million dollars a day??? How can he possibly make me wait to book something???!!!! We have a family friend that could loan us a wheelchair, so I’m not worried so much about that option. Would you believe I’ve already started reading the Disability boards? From what I’ve read, they wouldn’t issue a GAC (or whatever it’s called) for someone who just has mobility issues, but maybe I’m wrong. I was reading quickly, in the evening, while exhausted. Knowing my big tough independent man will say he feels fine and refuse any assistance, but again, he wants to wait to see how he feels. And you all know me ---- the ace bandage and ice pack are already packed!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, Karen......no photos, but it's a good use of smilies, right??? pixiedust:

Sorry to hear about Peter's foot. I hope he's feeling a little better!

A few years ago we went to Disneyland a few weeks after my sister broke her foot (as in the cast came off the night before we left). No wheelchair or ECV was necessary, but she was in a walking boot the whole time. We did get to "skip" some lines (we hated taking advantage of it, so we just used it for lines when we knew there would be stairs, which she really couldn't do). We took things a little more slowly than we normally do and took a few extra breaks just to get her off the foot, but we were still able to do almost everything (only thing we couldn't do was Splash Mountain, because she didn't want to get the boot wet). (We also went to San Francisco on that trip - that part wasn't easy)
This was under the old GAC system (although we didn't get a card), so I don't know how different it would be now. Hopefully Peter will be all better by next week, but if not, I'm sure the trip will still be tons of fun, just a little modified. Other than getting around the park, there shouldn't be too much that involves putting weight on the foot.

Oh my goodness! I would have been doing the same thing as you....looking at wheelchair or scooter rentals, wondering how we were going to do this and do that but all the while wanting everybody to have fun at Disney. Hopefully, he'll heal quickly and ya'll can decide what needs to be done.

Oh noooooo!!!! I'm so sorry to hear about Peter's foot!!! Sending pixie dust that by the end of the week he will be feeling much better!!! pixiedust:

Maybe he will be able to walk short periods of time on it or maybe it will feel 100% better by the end of the week!

Either way, I'm glad you are still going that he still wants to! Thinking about you 3! :grouphug:

Oh no!!! I will be praying for Peter! I hope he does let you rent something because I think it will be hard for him otherwise. I am glad he decided he still wants to go tho.

I am so sorry to hear about Peter. :sad2:

I hope he feels better by the time you go. What about just getting him a walking boot? It would slow him down a bit, but he might feel better about that than using a wheelchair or scooter.

The new system with the GAC is a mystery to me and I know a lot of people are NOT happy with it.

Victoria is a Junior! :yay: I'm glad she was able to split up those core classes over two semesters. That would have been very stressful with all of those AP classes. Good for her for being in AP, though! Smart girl! Love that you took some selfies on your sick day! The demon one is pretty cool! Do you watch Supernatural? That's what I always think of when I see "demon" pics. I love the TARDIS picture! When I saw the Weeping Angel, I tried not to blink! I'm glad you guys had fun. Especially considering how "ill" you were that day :lmao: Really cool t-shirts, tiara and Rapunzel braid!

I was so sorry to hear about Peter's foot. I hope he has a speedy recovery. It must be difficult not to plan for the scooter! Hopefully he won't need one, but if he does, I am sure you can take car of it at the last minute. You are the ultimate planner!

Oh no! I am so sorry about the foot. Hopefully you will be getting around Disney and I don't think anyone will run out of scooters or ECV rentals!

On the bright side it is so close!!:cool1:
