I have been asked to video tape my aunt's friend's wedding and bridal shower. They are not expecting anything professional, but I would like to do a really good job. Does anyone have any tips for me? I really have no experience with this kind of thing. Thanks!!!

We didnt have the money to tape our wedding either so here is what we did. We borrowed a couple different video cameras from people and set them up on tripods around the area where we were going to get married. Then when people started to be seated we had the groomsmen start the recording on each camera. That way we were able to get all the different angles. The best man then took all the tapes and edited them together (way over my head) and reduced wind noise (outdoor wedding) into one tape. You could do the multipe cameras and maybe talk with the B and G about what and when they would like closeups of and then take one camera and do that while the others record. There are computer programs out there that would help you to edit it together. Also you might try asking on the photo. board for more ideas. Good luck, it is so nice of you to do this for them.

It's been awhile since we got married, but our video is wonderful. It starts out at the house with just me and my bridesmaids getting ready, then he has some video of the photographer taking pics of us.

He has the entire ceremony, and then more footage outside the church, since it was June and a beautiful day. He had all the highlights at the reception, including introducing the bridal party, the toasts, cake cutting, garter and bouquet throwing, a lot of people dancing. He also took quick shots of all the tables so you can see everybody who was there.

My absolute favorite part of the video though are the "cameo interviews" with the guests. He handed the microphone to anybody who wanted to send us a message. Of course, some people had made a few trips to the open bar first so they were hysterical. The ones I cherish most though are my grandparents and others who have since passed away. It is so nice to look back and remember them having a great time at our wedding. He also took a video of my husband and I answering the question "what do you want to say to your future children?". My kids love that part of the video.

I think the video is somewhere between 3 and 3 1/2 hours. I really cherish it.

I had a professional video, one that my brother made and one that DH's uncle made.

The professional one is ok. My brother's is the best! Uncle's is the worst of the three.

My brother took video in the pew with my Mom and our 3-year old sister (parent's 25th anniversary surprise.) Dsis was lying on the pew with her head on Mom's lap. Her knees were up in the air and you could see up her dress. She was picking flower petals out of her basket, looking at them and throwing them on the ground. Very funny, unscripted moment.

The thing that he did at the reception that I liked was he'd go in a circle around a couple who was dancing. It added interest to the video.

At the beginning of his video, he took pictures of us growing up and set them to music. He told me he was going to use "Love Stinks" and "I Used to Love Her But I Had to Kill Her" as the songs, but he used "I'll Always Love You" by Taylor Dayne, "You're My Home" by Billy Joel, and "Color My World" by Chicago.

When everyone was coming down the aisle, he dubbed "Salsbury Hill" by Peter Gabrial. It made for a more entertaining entrance that the organ music.

You'll do fine. Figure out what you'd want to shoot, or would want shot at your wedding and do that.

Our favorite thing at the end of all of our wedding videos (my siblings and I) is when we're asked, "So, you're married now! What are you going to do next?" The couple is supposed to respond, "We're going to ________!"

Don't just stay in one spot. DH's Uncle did that. His was SOOOOOO boring!

Catch the important moments for the bride and groom, the brie's entrance, the groom seeing the bride for the first time in her gown, the vows. If it is a Catholic Mass with Communion, take the Communion line. Our professional videographer filmed DH & I during the whole Communion part, and I would have mucch rather seen who was at the church, and coming up for Communion. Take the stuff the bride and groom won't see.

At the reception, circulate, circulate, circulate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the guests, get a lot of candid shots. Get the bride and groom doing the important stuff, but get candids. My friend also videotaped our wedding (in additoin ot the pro) and she got video of my DH's friend, a bit tipsy, slipping off the head table dais (our head table was elevated) and then slowly pulling himself back up to a standing position, all the while waving at the camera saying "I'm all right". It is a hysterical piece of footage!!!!
