Video or Digital Camera ?

I’m looking into buying a digital photo or video camera and since I do not have the budget to buy the 2 and I do not want to log around 2 things, I was just wondering what would be best for a WDW trip.

For now I’m leaning for digital photo since I do not want to sped my time looking at shows trough my camera, like my GF wants me too. !!

Any advice ?

This is totally personal opinion, but I say a digital photo camera. I'm not a big video guy, but I have over 3,000 photos (mostly of my kids) in my iPhoto library.

I bought a Sony DSC-P72 camera about a year ago and you can take short videos you can play on a PC with it. I can get about 6 minutes on a 128 MB memory stick at 640x480. The quality is pretty decent in good light, and you can burn them onto a CD to share. So, if there's something you really want to record, you can always use that functionality. The pictures are very nice at 3.2 megapixels.

Sony have several camcorders that can double as a digital camera. They have their own Memory-Stick slot so all the still pics are stored in the MS and the video on D8/DV/MV tape.

I am vry biased on this subject - we could not afford both either - so we got the sony trv33 and a film camera instead. The trv33 is an awesome little camcorder. If you want very high res, cleam pic... I would get the camera you are looking at. Most of the camcorders don't have over 1 megapixel for still shot capability. I did take still shots with the sony TRV...but for film quailty pictures I took film pictures

if I had to pick between camera and film or digi camera... I would get the sony trv again in a heartbeat

or I would get a digi camera with tons of memory cards...or travel with my laptop so I could download movies

regardless of what you buy, spend a small amount for UV filter for either your camcorder and/or your digital camera. The picture quality difference will be a significant step up.

Colour will be much more vibrant yet still looks natural.

We have had 3 different video cameras over the years and I am the one that has had to carry them around. The problem is that we never watch the videos and you can clear a room by asking "Wanna see our Disney videos". We find that we can share the digitals immediatly upon returning home, have prints made at our local Sam's Club and even shoot a short video ever once in a while with it as well.
We have the Canon G3 and love it.

Check our countdown clock. We are excited.

LOL! That's so true. I have about 14 DVDs worth of my daughter's growing-up video. Theonly person who watches them... is my daughter.

Although we take both, we share the photos much more. Screensavers and wallpaper. Our cancorder also takes digitals and they are good quality.

Another vote for a digital camera. My Canon Powershot takes 3 minute videos as well as pictures and that's what we're taking to Disney. I didn't want to experience Disney looking through a video camera plus I love pictures!!! Have a great trip.

One thing to remember is there are places at WDW that you can use a still camera and not a camcorder. So if you use the still function on a camcorder you will not be able to use it as much.

I'm just curious to know where are these places and also i imagine that some places you can not use the flash ?

We used a video camera the last time we went to WDW, and I vowed NEVER again. It is just no fun watching everything through a view finder. We'll be bringing the digital camera.
