Does anyone have any experience with Video Now Color? My DS (8) is asking for one for Christmas and I don't want it to be one of those toys that doesn't get used. On another thread someone said not to get it if you already have a Game Boy, so I am wondering what the majority's take is on Video Now Color.

Thanks.

My DS8 received one for his birthday. He played with it (well, he watched the discs he got with it). I was planning to get a couple of new discs for him to watch on the plane (they sell headphones for it, but his regular headphones work just fine).

I agree about Gameboy though. If you have that, you can just get some shows to watch on Gameboy (it seems like most of the Gameboy and Video Now shows are Nick cartoons!)

HTH!

I would buy the gameboy...

they play the same shows basically and are priced about the same. But the GB also plays games so once your child is tired of watching the videos he can play games.

All that said if I did not already own the GBSP I would wait and get the Gameboy DS.

GB DS

Ok, I'm technology challenged, is Color GB the same as GB SP? We got ds the gameboy several years ago, does that play videos? I'm thinking not. (I put VideoNow on layaway today!)

no the Gameboy color is not the same as SP

SP's are lighted and much better on your childs eyes also the screen is larger so not as much eye strain.

I would wait til after Nov 21st I think all SP will be about $60 by then making them $20 cheaper than a VN Color. Because the DS comes out on Nov 21st.

here is a link to a GBSP for you...

DS already has the Game Boy Advance SP, but he wasn't interested in the shows....I wonder why. He says he just has to have the Video Now....now I am rethinking this if it is basically the same concept.

YIKES!!!! The toys just get smaller and more expensive the bigger my boys get.

Do you think they'll be disappointed with Santa bringing this one tiny little GB DS present???

With its two screens, Nintendo DS instantly shows its innovative face. But capabilities like a touch-screen input, voice recognition and wireless communication set it apart from every other game device, and again demonstrate Nintendo’s passion for groundbreaking originality.

Game players need only use their imagination to see how the DS promises to transform the portable game industry by changing the way gamers relate to their games – and each other. Two screens offer two perspectives on the action at once. The touch screen could make accessing items, moving characters or navigating menus as easy as a tap or drag on the screen. Voice recognition could let players simply tell the game what they want it to do. Chat software will let users transmit text messages, handwriting and even drawings to one another. And wireless functions could link players in the same room – or across the country. The unique features of the Nintendo DS hold a wellspring of potential for the future. Game players will be wowed.

May be the only thing DS get's for Christmas this year with the exception of the few things I have bought him and stored away in the treasure closet.

DS is asking for the video now color for Christmas. First he wanted Robosapien but has changed his mind.

He has Gameboy XP. I'm just wondering if he'd rather have the new Gameboy DS over this. Anyone know if the new GB will play the old games?

I don't see a reason for Video Now when they can watch it all on TV & we both (DH & I) have VCR (me) & DVD (DH) in our car.

Any thoughts???

the DS will only play Gameboy Advance and DS games.

I do not see the point in the video now personally and I would think also since it uses DVD type discs that they could be damaged quiet easily.

I've put deposits on 2 DS's, one for DS and one for DD, to reserve them ($150 each as of now). They will play DS and Advanced games, though the advanced will NOT play the DS. DD had wanted the video color but decided this was better after DS started talking about it.

GameBoy Advance - is that what DS has right now? It's small, silvery gray & folds up - kinda like a tiny laptop? I called it XP for some reason. Anyway, he must have the advance as long as GBDS will play those, then I can give the GB Adv to DD4 for the Princess game she's been wanting.

I have the VideoNow ( black and white ). I got it for Christmas last year. I like it alot. I watch it fairly often. I want a color because you won't be able to find the old discs. ( and the color has better one hehe ) I also want the Nintendo DS. I have a Gameboy color and a Gameboy Advance ( fist one ) and they are really hard to see.
